Other than crafting, have you used a rope?
If so, how?

Never used a rope. I picked them up thinking i might need a rope at some point. Never did.
D&D would be ashamed.

Npc´s do use ropes to offer your char access but there are some places where no way leads to and only a rope would do but i dont know, perhaps there is some way to activate them?

Glad to see people have noticed this. I've added climbing using ropes in the mod I'm working on \^^/
