Are you able to have multiple saved characters at once?

You can have multiple saves yes

Yes but don't count on Quicksave and Autosaves. They will overwrite each other with your different runs.

To keep those seperated you have to play each run using a different profile created at the main menu.

to be clear. Saved characters, meaning different play throughs. Thats what profiles are for.
