seems fine to me. No reason not to get rich, after all a thief wouldnt be stealing just apples and garbage.

Gameplay-wise, it means you won't ever be short on cash to equip your characters. Especially since you will ALSO be able to steal from most traders. Considering that the most expensive items in the game are kinda... Terrible at the moment, it's overkill.
Roleplay-wise, I'm pretty sure at that point you could buy out the Paladin Order entirely.
