Detailed Damage Comparison Charts
I made a list comparing all skills of all schools on the same level with the same conditions.

Was getting sick of all the know-it-alls throwing numbers around without prove.

----------------------------------------------------
edit: the damage is NOT optimized.

physical would further profit from:

-runes
-no resistances on enemies
-better weapons

making them arguably equal or higher damage compared to the magic classes
-----------------------------------------------------
necromancy profits hugly from warfare, doubling the damage of half its spells
-----------------------------------------------------
Ranger and Scoundrel would underperform if they didnt skill warfare as well

this makes warfare a core on ALL physical damage classes (except summoners)

I'm unsure what you're going for? It appears the best damages are the physical classes, particularly because of knockdown effects.

This chart is awesome btw, just confused of the purpose due to your secondary comments

well the only thing I can see, is that your weapons are a little weak, while spells don't need one. I'm in the camp of "everything in the game is OP so who cares" but just pointing it out.

well i purposely didnt use weapons with +str or +warfare or other buffs so the attributes stay consistent

their damage is typical level 20. the only thing they lack is runes.
Boink Oct 6, 2017 @ 5:36pm
The real big numbers happen when you use x3 Power runes for +3 str / +15% phys damage each.

Spells do not get this possibility.

Nice chart though.

Fire was the only spell caster that seemed to keep up in damage with physical. That was with hothead and torture and the crit talents (savage whatever) used.

that sounds intentionally since fire is the only magic school without disables

But they don't because everything has fire resistance and nothing has physical resistance. And fire mages are going to cause friendly fire wile physical damage does not. And physical has CC while fire does not.

And all these physical damage on this are apparently without any equipment so they're all way lower than they would be when you have a weapon.

Uh thx to runes I was doing nearly twice that damage with my archer and that's without the high ground bonuses.

no damage in this chart is optimized. the character, before i respecced him, did around 10k damage with supernova... the purpose is comparison, not showing how much dmg every class can do at max

Should open the pictures link, and read its title.
This isn't min/maxing.
This is an attempt of fair comparison (ie, no runes, equivalent stats, no gear biasm etc)

Useful statistics, thanks!

making them arguably equal or higher damage compared to the magic classes

Did anyone really ever argue that?

It's nice to have a chart like this but it doesn't tell the story well (and it is way off when you consider lone wolf)

Go into Game Master mode and make lvl 25 characters /weapons (make white versions - they will have no variations).

People say rangers do more damage than knigts but it isn't true. Look at the base weaopn damage for bow vs 2H melee and you will see a huge difference.

Huntsman damage being tied to height makes it very easy to negate. Ok they can use sky shot and then after that the 10 points in huntsman give them 0% extra damage.

1h melee does very little damage, so do hunter (without warfare) and scoundrel (without warfare) that are basically garbade.
-------------------------------------
2h melee does less dmg than any elemental magic school unless you buff it with +dmg runes and add enemy resistances.
-------------------------------------
+str runes or items dont count since there are as many +int items
-------------------------------------
--> most weapons dont have runeslots
--> those that do are outdated after a single levelup, making it actually hard to constantly have an up to date weapon with runeslots
--> the only real advantage of physical damage is that enemies never have resistances, which is huge, i admit that, but still not as huge as people make it out to be.
