Can have multiple playthroughs going at once?
So I am currently at the part of the game where the ship gets attacked and the three unused companions permadie . Not wanting to miss out on their quests, I wanted to know if I could start a new playthrough with them while still being able to continue the playthrough I am currently on?

Do I have to create a new profile in the main menu, or is that not necessary?

No, it's not necessary.

You can have as many playthroughs going concurrently as you'd like. I reccomend saving each under different names.

Three unused companions? You're playing a non-origin character, I take it.

I believe that Honor difficulty only allows one active playthrough at a time (any save made in Honor mode goes to a dedicated save slot), but as long as you're playing any of the others (Explorer/Classic/Tactician), you can have as many saves as your hard drive can hold.

So if I start the game from the beginning again, I won't lose all of the save files I have so far?

As long as its under a different profile it won't overwrite your other profiles auto and quicksaves.

so would it be better to just make a new profile?

It will make things much easier for you and you won't have to worry about losing quick and autosaves.

Just make a manual save, those do not get overritten. Good for multiple playthroughs, multiplayer sessions, etc.

Yes, but it is safer to separate the profiles in case you don't manual save.

Aren't the profiles used for local multiplayer?
