Nameless isle ( spoiler within )
OK I killed all the black ring, magisters, Alexander and sallow man on the nameless isle. When I get ready to go into the academy half my party wants to break up. I have nurtured these guys brought them back from death and the brink of death, spent my gold on a new pair of boots for them , listened to their dumb stories, refrained from killing npcs at their request this is how they repay me. Long story short are beast and ilfan gone for good?

My suggestion? Go to the vengeance before and give yourself max persuasion. Then you should be able to persuade check them to stay. Kinda annoying to a degree, but there can be only one right?

Now given what happens, you might just get them back again later but I haven't passed that part without persuasion so I dunno.

Wow! I had no trouble with either and love those guys (unlike my current party I may be about to lose) -- even convinced Red Prince. (Almost lost him later but relented and reloaded).

Did you miss one of their quests? Beast is so damn agreeable anyway. Did you check their attitude score? Did you ask how they felt about Divinity and offer feedback?

Chaos seems to have a good suggestion -- maybe I did persuade them as well.

I know its kinda annoying. Worst case scenario you can hire mercenaries to finish the game. Basically you create a whole new character to join your party and spec them how you want to BUT you have to buy/steal new skills and gear. As long as their attitude towards you is high and you have good persuassion you can make them stay.

well, i played only with 1 companion, i did every quest for her (sebile) and sometimes talk with her, at the isle she even told me (after the tree quest) that she need divinity now, but at the academy she was like : ye, you can be divinity, i dont care; there wasnt even a persuade check

Oh good, that's one of two I was worried about. I don't care for her that much but she'd be the hardest to replace the way I have her specc'd. :D

I'm guessing you solved this by now but thought I'd add that I pulled up my old game and did see I had Persuasion at 5, but also wanted to let you know that Beast has a missing hat on the isle...if you didn't get that, that may help. Nothing you can do with Ifan on the Isle except kill Alexander of course.
