If you can, initiate a trade with someone else, then switch back to you rmain guy during the trade.
-> loading a different save prior to meeting him.
-> stealing from him, getting caught with innocent character, then talking again.
-> Using my companions to talk.
-> there is only 1 thing i haven't tried, without spoiling too much Beast hijacked the first encounter with special dialogue . I can try parking him away from the group and talking again when i get home.
Yeah, that works, as long as you've not talked to him with Beast at all yet.
Yep, once you talk to him with Beast, the Trade option is no longer available.
Taking Ifan, and having him be the first one, however, triggers the same dialogue option "You want an engraved invitation?" but does not reproduce the bug.
Doing so also means that Beast's dialogue with him no longer triggers.
Wasn't able to reproduce that, as Ifan is one of the only others that you can talk to Papa Thrash to get in, by asking if he recognizes you.
To answer your question, though, I chose wheat, so I have no idea if that's "white" enough for him. Didn't seem to make much difference for me, though, as the trade button was literally missing.
As long as Beast wasn't present, it all worked fine. So I'm absolutely certain skin tone had nothing to do with it.
After killing him, I looted a bunch of stuff, including Racht Muvora and several Scoundrel skill books. There do not seem to be any negative consequences.
Pickpocketinng requires Thievery 3.
Alternatively, if I talk to him with anyone else, he does not offer to trade, but the trade button is live and works. He sells more than you can loot from him.
