When I did this, Beast, my Avatar/Rogue was in the middle of a big egg chamber, but I was able to use Favourable Wind and invisibility to escape the fight, and Cloak and Dagger to get out of the room. If you don't have skills to let you escape easily, you don't have much choice but to wait in combat for your teammates to rescue you.
Red Prince, my Knight ended up near a gate and a door, but he was able to defeat the Voidwoken there, after a couple attempts. But I was level 12 and had Cleanse Wounds and Frost Armor.
Sebille ended up in the living quarters and was able to find a path which avoided big Voidwoken.
I don't know your specific builds or your level, so I'm not sure if this can help.
Yeah i totally forgot about those things. But i dont think you can switch items to another character while in combat though.
If a character is really too balls deep in combat to escape, or have allies help him, just let him die. You can then use a waypoint to warp his corpse into town and revive it there.
My characters are all level 10, compared to the enemies around being level 11. They're specced out... badly. I'm very much a novice to this game and Divinity as a whole. I wouldn't even know how to describe them.
There's a narrow gap on the side opposite the tunnel which has a few candles or something. The key is at the far end behind a box. I almost missed this too, but panning around with Alt held down got the key to briefly appear. Move the box aside.
What attributes have your characters focused on(STR/INT/FIN/CON/WIT/MEM), what abilities have they focused on (Warfare, Summoning, Hydrosophist, etc.), what Skills do they have (Restoration, Battle Stomp, Backlash, Searing Daggers, Rain, etc.).
