Can someone explain the "story" of Alexandar to me? [SPOILER]
So I am on the nameless Isle now, and somehow Alexandar survived and seems to be one of the good guys now. First I need to escort some guy I rescured before to Alexandar, and then Gareth shows up, wanting him dead. But when I tell him that I want answers first, he actually tells me something along the lines of showing forgiveness. Forgiveness? I forgave no one. And actually I have no idea why Alexander is suddenly the good guy. I mean he is still a douche if you offer to assist him, but apparently everyone thinks he is a nice guy now.
So...can anyone explain to me what I missed here? Was Alexander somehow posessed by a demon? Or is it more like in True Blood where one character becomes evil for a season then suddenly realizes that it's not cool, asks for forgiveness and is a nice guy again?

If you pay attention its clear that Alexander was never "Evil". He himself is a sourcerer and Is the Son of Lucian the last Divine. Lucian taught him to always look at the bigger picture. That sacrifices had to be made for the good of the realm. That upbringing, along with dallis and vredemans manipulation, set him up to be this big bad guy. Alexander is also the son of a man who is literally a god. So he's basically Jesus. Any man claiming to be the son of a God has to have a pretty big ego which shows up as him acting like a popous ass most of the time.

He aperently thoght all the blatently evil ♥♥♥♥ Dallas did wasn't evil and when he found out the mutilating people and genocide were for reasons that didn't end in his godhood he got pissy with Dallas and got ♥♥♥♥♥ smacked out of the way. He not good so much as mad all the evil ♥♥♥♥ he approved wasn't for his benefit.

Considering the ♥♥♥♥ his dad pulled his grasp of the big picture wasn't exactly a good model to base things on.

So I get it right that there hasn't been anything but a "change of mind" which makes Alexander a completely different person as you can put it in this confronting dialogue with gareth?

You'll notice he still uses Shriekers. He's still the same "ends justify the means" guy, so long as that end is his ascension. That includes temporarily allying with you to reach the arena of the One.

Alrighty. Thanks. Was wondering if I missed something as the game suddenly presented him as a renewed shiny person. But then I'll stick with killing him.

Alexander was never evil, if you pay attention to his actions in Fort Joy, he wasn't ruthless like Dallis and Vredeman was. He was hesitant to ask Dallis to execute Atusa, he was also hesitant to fight you, imploring you surrender Divinity to him.

He kinda acts like a ♥♥♥♥ sometimes but it's just that, an act. An act he's not so good at either, he's trying his best to follow his father's example of the good of the many trumps the good of the few. And in the end he realized his ways may not have been just after seeing that Dallis and Vredeman never cared for his agenda or the good of the realm.

So overall Alexander's change was a natural progression in his story arc.

Thanks. Guess his arc ended now. :P
