Inquisitor Class
I know there aren't really any "classes" in this game, but starting out as an Inquisitor just seems counter intuitive. None of the spells you start with are blocked by magic armor, yet the weapon you start with is only good for damaging magic armor. You need to quickly transition into using a real physical damage weapon.

seems like a class that in its standard state, is best to round off a mixed party. You can use warfare skills to to CC targets once your fighter allies broke down the physical armor and deal magical damage and spells to CC targets along your mage allies.

Counter intuitive on its own, but plays well with others.

Fair enough. I guess I just don't like having to rely too much on party members, especially when the chance of death is rather high. Then again, I'm new to the game, so I still have time to restart and explore other avenues.

Actually, The inquisitor in release starts with a 2 handed hammer
Warfare and Necromancy. Its perfect. Bam.

being able to rely on party member is a key part of this game. The game encourage a 4 man party for a reason and having characters cover each other's weakness and synergize with each other will increase your odds of victory.

so Inquisitor at launch is just a knight with a magic school?

Pretty much. i still plan on using inquistor preset with fane though. Warfare with necromancy is usually my start

That's a shame. I really like the inquisitor starting with a staff. That melee mage gimmick is really fun.

And starting with a mace, you now have to split your stats or choose either strength for the hammer or int for the magic at the start.

Eh. I never had an issue with spliting my stats to be honest. i like hybrids. And same honestly. Probably gonna mess around with staff-warfare-geomancy (for poision/healing undead)

It's not like presets have any meaning at all other than being cute little mini build for newcomers to mess around with. I mean at the end of the day it only affect your starting weapon (at least when it comes to character creation since sadly companions come will the full preset which is really annoying).

And yeah you are "supposed" to play this game with a coordinated team spirit on your mind if you are solo you control the whole team and in multiplayer well you'd better be smart or you may get spanked. It's possible to be on your own with very specific builds but it's not the main goal of the game really.
