Editing "Premade" characters.
I can't seem to find any information on this. Can you take one of the premades and keep their original story and personal questline, but alter them to have different skills/be a different class from the start?

When you recruit one of the characters you will be able to choose any of the presets that you are able to choose for yourself. You will not however, be able to fully customiza said preset with custom skills, talents and atrribute point distribution when you recruit them. You will however be able to respecc any character in your party after act 1.
As for customizing their looks; that will only be able after act 1 aswell.
EDIT: Get ninja'd whomever deleted their comment :steammocking:.

Thank you that's very detailed I appreciate it. If you choose to play as one of them, can you edit them at all? Or is it the same deal where you need to get past act 1?

If you choose to pick said character during creation you can (almost) fully customize them( class, skills, appearance, talents, attributes). Some exceptions apply such as the Red Prince always having red skin, names, races and genders being fixed etc.

Yea clasess are fully customisable but looks (face, race, sex, name) that is fixed for origin characters, mostly because some of them have some skills that are linked for their origin stories :steamhappy: (plus it would be silly that "Red prince" is tottaly purple or orange :steammocking: )

That's all fine for me. I only asked because I want my main character to be a mage, and since the Red Prince is a Lizard I want to use him for the Int bonus and was worried he was stuck starting as a melee character based on the armor he's depicted as wearing.

You can wear heavy armor and still be a mage ;) But like everyone said - you can customize.

Only race, gender, and name are locked for origin characters (except Red Prince, who's skin color is also locked). You can change their faces, which I'm definitely gonna do to Ifan post act 1.

I need Ifan to be a pretty boy to get me to romance him over Magister Locke, who I think is adorable; don't hate me :(.

Thought about romancing Fane too, but there are a couple things stopping me. He's well over 10,000 years old, and he's written by Chris Avellone who is well known for hating romance in rpgs, and goes out of his way to make romances tragic. Love Chris, and everything he writes, but I refuse to let that kind of romance happen to my character. I feel he deserves a happy ending :p.

Something to note is that you can hire generic custom mercenaries in act 2 if you want (they will snap to your current level).

Some people also run the game 4x at character creation to make a full custom party on the boat.

Are you able to rename the mercenary characters? And do they level up with you?
