Can this game be enjoyed as a pure hack & slasher (ignore story) like the first game?
Me and a friend played through Divinity: Original Sin enhanced edition together and we played it as if it was a Diablo clone and we had an absolute blast. Has anything changed in that regard? Or can this game be played in the same way?

I remember seeing a trailer a long time ago that talked about pen and paper rpg features and the ability for one player to be the dungeon master etc., but are all these things just extra game modes etc. or is this game different from the first in some way? Or is it more of the same? We're hoping for more of the same, or at least not drastic changes that would affect our ability to mindlessly hack & slash our way through the game while enjoying it tremendously. :)

While i don't think any mortal may enjoy this game, or the previous one for that matter, as a diablo style hack n slash, this game is not that different from the os 1. So if you managed to play the previous one ignoring the story, you'll do fine in this one as well. At least for the most part. Although it is more story heavy.

And dnd stuff is ineed optional and has nothing to do with the base game.

Yeah I'm a bit confused by this... How did you "enjoy the previous game as a hack and slash game"?

He likely just engaged in combat with every npc, I'm pretty sure they talked about being able to do it again

Games are possible to be finished by killing evryone but, if you kill all traders and all traders of recipes and skillbooks. Wellllll it will not be easy.
But if you wanna go all over like broken T-800 killing evreyone, well you are free to do so. :steamhappy:

Cool, thanks.

We thought the last game was one of the most fun co-op experiences we've had so we're looking forward to this one. I'm unable to care about the story in a co-op game which is why we played the last game this way and will play this one the same way. I only care about gameplay and the combat coupled with the items, skills, classes etc. in Original Sin made it a blast to play for the gameplay alone. Turn-based combat worked so much better in co-op than I thought it would.

And yeah, we skip all dialogue and kill everyone we're able to. Our only complaint with the last game was that it became a bit too easy when you killed so many NPC's because you leveled up so fast and became too strong too fast, but that's a minor complaint and a direct consequence of the way we played the game obviously.
