Any character can use a key and if you click on a door/chest/area etc that requries a key and you have it, the key will be used automatically even if it is in another persons bag/inventory.
There is a mission which a dog ask you to save another dog which I think is turned into a mouse or sth, so I get the key from it and get underground near the big god statue to the room holding the dog but I cannot open it.
In fact I cannot open any locked door with 5 keys in my bags, so do I need to interact the key with the door or just click into area and the character will unlock the door automatically?
Or am I just too dump for a video game ;-;
Sounds to me like the door you found wasn't one that a key unlocks, but rather its opened by a lever hiding in the bushes near the door. However, you can also just break the door down. Just don't use melee to do it unless you plan to repair your weapon. Weapons only take damage if used outside combat like that. Ranged weapons don't though.
