Is there no way to save Emmie?
Would like to try and get Buddy's buddy back. Though everytime I get to where Emmie is, all the dogs are hostile and so is every other magister around the fort. So cant really even talk to her or any of the source hounds.

Well crap, that sucks. :(

I don't know if you save her, but you can try to persuade her to try to be strong and free her. She leaves if you're successful, but I don't know what happens afterwards.

Are you sure you have the right dog? She is one of the pack in the middle room and not the one in the cage in the third room. Her dialogue is basically "You Intruder; Stop" and after you throw the ball "Ball, Ball."

Yeah who you're talking about is Birdie. I thought that was Emmie at first too in my first play through when I talked to Buddy after I already killed nearly all the magisters in the fort.

Larian should have made Emmie the dog in the cage.

That would make more sense. or at least guarding that specific room where Birdie is in along with Birdie, seperate from the other dogs. So you can have a better chance to just talk to her and only her. Since the door birdie is in is locked anyway.

My bad, I guess I got my dog names wrong.

Heya, I was just successful in this.

You need Ifan with the petpal skill. Once you unlock the door start the conversation with Emmie, then go through the conversation, always select the text that has Buddy's name in it. It should lead to all the dogs becoming gentled. Then as you proceed to the next room, you will find Birdie, if you do not have his ball, do not engage. Go down to the dungeon first and kill the Magister Houndmaster, then you will get the ball, this will help you free Birdie and return him to normal, I think. I did not get this far, as I went through the Birdie conversation without the ball and ended up having to kill the dog.

I don't know if the ball was necessary or not for Birdie (I had it in Ifan's backpack, having killed the Houndmaster), you can't do anything with the ball as far as I know. But when in conversation you get four options to choose from, only the third listed option worked for me (ie successful persuasion). Then the dog ran away to play.

Wrong.

When you open the door to the hounds, they are hostile.

When you have the ball the conversation window pops up and you have the option to throw them the ball and they are pacified for the moment.

Interesting, as I simply opened conversation with Emmie from the door, so I never needed the ball, and i don't think it gave me the option there, maybe I wasn't far enough in the room to trigger that part ? Looks like there is more than one way to succeed.

Soo uhh, I'm playing as ilfan with pet pal, and no matter how I approach the room, ball in hand, the combat always starts immediately. When I hover over the dogs from outside the room they all have the arrow icon instead of a chat icon. Not really sure what to do here. I've tried seperating ilfan from the group, and that doesn't work. Any ideas?

i just walk through the door with ifan as the lead character and the dialogue starts automatically

So there seems to be some inconsistancy with triggering this then. Cause combat starts for me sometimes immediately and other times, the dogs will turn and say intruder before engaging (which I've only ever had happen once, ever) and thats about as about as much dialogue I get with any of the dogs in the room.
