.Net 3.5?
Hi all,
Just got the game, all downloaded and installed.
when I try to run it, it want's to install .net framework 3.5 on my system ( Win 10 64 ).
I tell it to, but everytime it fails and throws up an error ( 0x80070002 ), has anyone else experianced this?
I have read the tech support thread, and even after following that, I still get the same problem, much frustrating!

yep, same issue, different error code. Mine is error code: 0x800f081f

I can't install 3.5, even with the offline version. http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/0/f/60fc5854-3cb8-4892-b6db-bd4f42510f28/dotnetfx35.exe

At this point I can't get past the initial setup when trying to run the game.

Try starting the game directly from the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\bin\EoCApp.exe' program file. I think it is just the support tool that requires .net.

Also, error messages or details of why you can't install .Net could be useful.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service pack 1 (Full Package)

That did the trick! It's the SupportTool that needs .net 3.5. It started via game file directly just fine.

getting a refund is quite easy. at the top select help. then click on steam support. next select the game you want refunded. select that the game is not fun or whatever and it'll give you an option to refund.

keep in mind that refunds are only automatically accepted if you have less than 2 hours played AND the date of purchase has not passed 1 week. otherwise it requires an actual valid reason and needs to be discussed with an actual steam customer support rep.

Just noticed all the replies,
Yesh, starting game directly from its .exe works just fine and dandy.
Thank you for the replies though, much helpfullness!

Hi Raze. I successfully started the game from it's EXE, but the problem is that now the game *image* kinda "stucks".
Even in the game menu.
The game soundtrack keeps playing, the game doesn't crash, but the menu animations and buttons simply don't work.
If I hit alt + tab the game untucks for about 2 to 3s, then stucks again.

I think you meant "becomes stuck" or "sticks". Weird, but that's English for ya!

Validate game files via Steam.
Shut down any extra programs running.
Maybe try playing the game in Safe Mode w/networking.

When did this start? After a Windows update?
Any other issues, such as your graphics card getting too hot?

Thanks for the tips on the grammar :)
So, it started after I bought a New PC. New CPU, new GPU, new RAM, New Windows 10 installation.

- Validated the file's integrity, no changes
- Tried to install .NET 3.5 via Windows features: No good, it goes to 40% of it's installation and crashes with error 0x80244018. Tried some sollutions online for that error code, none worked.
Will try to format my PC again and post the results.

I had the same issue pretty much with .net 3.5. I could not use the launcher, because that is what it used. The only way I could run the game was via the game file. Skip the support tools.

Try that before reformatting.

Also, make sure you have the latest video drivers. And, if you're using any security or AV software, make sure to either disable it or 'whitelist' the game.

This is a bit more involved, but your could check the error logs for your computer.

y you can run this game directly without opening steam just fine. but did you know that you can run steam first before launching the game and its sync perfectly. like your steam indicate that you are playing the game and you can open steam overlay ingame. i am guessing steam achievement should works just fine as well

i do that all the time. because if i launch the game from steam it will prompt me for update. and force me to download the claasic edition file that i delete
