Ricochet not working

I've tried a number of times and I'm quite sure the ricochet never works for me. I started a new game and just tested it with the 3 thugs who play cards in fort Joy who are clearly closer than 4m from each other.

It works when I try it there, though the first couple times, when only a warning dialogue was given, they regained the lost armour points fairly quickly.
Both voidlings were damaged when I tried it with that post, as were both magisters (unless they were 5m apart; it worked at 3m and standing right beside each other).

I tried with the thugs that play cards and the cooks band - never managed to get it to work, unles the new AI keeps them at 5m apart at all times -it's a bit hard to judge distance, I am however totally sure that the hailstorm spell from hydrosophist could easily get all 3 thugs with a little bit of headroom around them. I check distance by trying to move and seeing how much is 4m here. Perhaps the 4m (if it works) is too little, taking the fact that the enemy almost never aligns in tight clusters

It works, but seems to have wrong distance. It's more like 2m not 4. This time I placed two thugs pretty much on top of each other and ricochet worked.

This still seems to be an issue. I was fighting two void salamanders who were about 3-4 meters apart and ricochet wouldn't hit both of them. I keep trying to use this skill but unless the enemy is practically up each others respective anus's I can't manage to hit more than one target. Even "Far out Man" doesn't help with this distance.

Literally never works unless they are holding hands, it says 5m but its more like 1 same with the shield throw ability, this game is so frustrating
