Consider yourself lucky you don't play a pen&paper. These were awful...! You had to imagine EVERYTHING! Can you believe that? Imagination!
But seriously, these are the characters that fit the story. Doesn't fit your story? Though lyfe, this is not your story. There is flexibility to the way you will play it, but flexibility does not mean blank pages.
So no beautiful elves. Sorry.
About elves looking anorexic however: That's how the devs chose them to look like and I highly doubt they would change that.
You're blowing things way out of proportion. OP just made a suggestion; no need to belittle him for it.
The game offers you complete custom character creation, you know. Those can surely look as young as a player would want them to be.
Actively limiting younger/better looking faces because they don't fit to premade characters is stupid when custom ones exist. Especially if you can even roleplay premade ones as you see fit.
Which would be clearly beneficial to the game( especially the Game Master Mode in case someone forgot about that one).
Sigh. I really cry at night thinking how nowadays "role playing" just means "playing sims".
I pointed out that said gain can be useful for GM-mode and I do realise that the gain is marginal there just like in the campaign, but so is having more than one face in the first place and the OP ultimately wants available faces to actually differ more( which is the purpose of said option in the first place).
Also, no one was arguing about adding more details to them or the zoom.
I also struggle to see what your problem is. If you're so keen on imagination just stick to that. Someone simply had a request and all you're doing is making fun of it. If you disagree just say so and state your reasons no need to get sassy just because someone wants a slightly shinier doll to play with.
If you're disliking this because of inreased work for the devs I would like to remind you that there is plenty of time until release to draw a few more faces and add them to the game. It doesn't require any additional coding and the people working on art tend to be out of work around the last (few) week(s) before release anyway.
fixed that quote for you btw.
More customisation options would be welcome, though I doubt they'll change the elves much. Personally I quite like that they are alien looking, and not just pretty humans with longer ears.
To further elborate: This is an RPG with the option to create, entirely, your own character. Yet, not a single character customization option can make your character look young. You can't even change their height/body mass. The only way to play someone short is to play a dwarf. There are clearly children in the game world, and there even children on the boat at the start of the game. In no way does the lore imply that someone young couldn't have been collared and on the ship. This is an alpha, the whole point of an alpha is to get feedback from players before the game is released. This is my feedback.
I understand why elves are the way they are from a narrative perspective, that's fine. I just won't have them in my party. I don't enjoy the idea of playing with a sickly and malnourished character. A slider, however, to make them less disturbingly boney would be greatly appreciated. I can understand the argument of Origin characters not looking below a certian age, but why should that effect the character that I am making. If origin characters are suppose to look a certian way, why not lock some features. Geralt will always look like Geralt, but you can still change his hair and beard.
I just find it very annoying that the only way I can get the phsique I want for my human character or lizard, is if I make them a girl. Which is fine, I don't mind playing as a grill in rpgs, but I do mind when playing a girl is required to avoid being bulky.
Character customization is not the biggest problem in the world. For the most part you probably won't even notice it past 10 hours. But let MEA be a warning to everyone, people will notice a shallow character creator. And seeing as it's the FIRST thing people will exprience, it won't do any harm to add a few more options.
Few more faces? Sure. New build options? Yeah, sure not. But thanks for a warning, it's absolutely and completely irrelevant.
I tried playing as knife once, I got blunt pretty quickly, but I gave it my best stab... (Sorry Low Well, I couldn't resist ;) )
