But the thing is, it doesn't really matter what you pick. You can recruit other characters and pick different builds with them.
Lohse is an enchanter by default (I think) and Ifan is a wayfarer (but you can change their classes when you first meet them)
Just pick something that seems fun to you.
That should be fixed in this update, and saving and reloading should have got the skills working properly in the last version.
