Eight Unlockable Skins?

Has anyone been able to figure out how to unlock any of the “eight unlockable skins” that the store page advertises? I beat all of the 40 levels with no falls (only skipped level 31), however, when I open in the ESC menu within a level and select the “Skin” option, it still displays the message “Skin Not Unlocked.”

Impressive to beat all levels without falls. But I wonder what the timer is for?
