attacking an enemy or obstacle (destroying it or not) causes the mentioned shaking. With quite some patience is will go away again, but that is sadly not feasable in a fight.
It seems possible to stack the shaking, attacking again when it already shakes seems to make it a bit worse, but i might be mistaken there.
Using the special action (? default key is j) lets the character not stand still for a while, gliding smoothly over the ground. That looks quite fun, but is most likely not intended and also not very helpful either. Switching directions in that state increases the slide speed, but doesn't extend the duration.
I would not say that the game is fully unplayable, but it would require considerable effort to compensate and take away too much focus from the actual game, which seems by what i could tell, rather nice and made with some love
