Final Boss
The final boss is a great idea, however its too easy. I would like to see it prevent movement on tiles like Dukes flamethrower does, if it was able to launch like grenades as a second attack that leave behind those magma zones that the flamethrower leaves it would make the boss harder to run away from, aswell as inflict more damage - plus it wouldnt significantly change the storyline of the boss fight.

^^^^^ also wouldnt need to change the boss graphic - just saying, makes it easier for developers to do - and harder for us to complete :)

That boss was a slap in the face.. a disgrace, a joke.
It just stands in one spot spamming a flamethrower that goes about 10 feet across...

The thing needs a complete rework and overhaul... and it needs to be NOT a color swap of the cycloid emperor..

I was offended by such blatant lazines and disregard for quality production.
♥♥♥♥♥ a joke

That’s not exactly true.
This here actor ( End Figure Thing [Boss???] ), does turn and walk a bit, bravely facing the player to absorbs a lot of ammo before calling it quits. It was worth every dollar I spend on the game, just for my biggest laugh about what not to do when making characters.

Please don't ask to fix it. Some peeps at duke4 are already working on a real End Boss. For free and gamer approved.:steamsalty:

The whole game has inspired me to make my own campaign

I wanna do like..... a Giant Brain Alien Boss that spawns Mini Brains Lots of Jetpack Usage - or a Massive Pig with a flamethrower (Hog Roast) - Or even a giant version of one of those Dog aliens that crap on the floor - ♥♥♥♥ Happens.

Hell maybe my whole campaign will just be intelligently designed Boss Battles
haha nerds... Oct 21, 2016 @ 11:41pm
The final boss is indeed a joke unless you walk up to him yourself.

They should make a long range version of the Incinerator projectile, like the rockets, no lava pools but at least sets the player on fire. Then, in short range, the boss should alternate between the Incinerator projectile and his flamethrower. And a sprite replacement would be nice too.

but the lava pools add a whole new element, if the pools stick around like 3 times longer, his long range attack will prevent you from easily running around the pitch. it'll be much much harder to run circles around him as he can charge at you pretty fast when he stops firing his flame thrower

So i just played the boss for a second time -

He actually has 3 attacks -

1. Standard Flamethrower
2. Release Fire Enemies that rain down fire and lava pools from the sky
3. And a much rarer attack where he creates lava pools

I think the problem is his attack priorities - he is not birthing enough enemies and he is not variating his main attack weapons as much as he should - Leading me to the conclusion that this might be fixed in a future update

Here is a code snipped:
state BOSS5shootenemyfar ifcount 52 { state checkBOSS5seekstate } else { ifaction ABOSS5SHOOT { ifactioncount 2 { shoot FIREBALL resetactioncount } } } ends
Is the FIREBALL the lava pools?
I wrote this before when I only had the chance to watch a streamed video, actual Fireballs, would be awesome.

Either way, everything is fixable, but I have yet to see where one can send a coherent bug report.
One on one eps 5 boss do you see the flaw here or is it just me

@Taamalus - That must be the fireball attack - he used it on me on my second run through where i played it very slowly deliberately not firing my rockets at him but instead unloading all rounds of every other weapon - he shoots dozens of the fireballs in a single attack - that DO - as i suggested originally create lava pools just like the fireflys aerial attack -

If the bastrd used this attack more often and at longer range - as it was around a medium range he used it at - then this could significantly improve the quality of this boss
Animalman Oct 23, 2016 @ 4:19pm
Have u guys seen him perform all three attacks - that video demonntrates two but he can also give birth to fireflys
Taamalus Oct 23, 2016 @ 4:47pm
@ Animalman - The way you describe it could be a formidable boss.

From past experiences with Bosses, I'll never give any Boss a breather, or I'll be dead in two seconds flat, thus out of habit, I attack full force.

That video exposes a funny flaw. But then you can find "safe spots" to hide for most of the boss battles.

I just beat this boss, and I think the problem was that he doesn't spawn enemies often enough. The Queen from Episode 4 was tough because of the rate at which Drones were birthed. This guy shoots out fireflies much much more slowly.

Personally though, I'm more bothered by the cinematic at the end. It's clearly a few drawn sprites, not a 3D rendering as was seen in the first 4 episodes. Granted, that 3D rendering looks like absolute ♥♥♥♥ by today's standards, but it did look more "sophisticated" than the drawing we got.
