Running Out of Ammo

What the hell is going on? Besides DOOM 2, I've never had an issue of running out of ammo constantly in an FPS before. I hit like every one of my shots almost so I've no idea why I've got so little. I'm constantly resorting to kicking which gets me killed instantly and it's no damn fun. I'm finally getting into the game after years but this is halting me. I'm picking up ammo from corpses and exploring the place. What else do I have to do???

Which episode are you playing and which difficulty? Ammo shouldn't be a problem after the very beginning, if you explore. Are you using every weapon?

First episode, second hardest difficulty. Can't remember what it's called, the third difficulty. I'm doing my best to explore the place and yeah I'm using the shotgun and pistol which is all I have atm.

I played a little more last night and restarted the level and I seemed to be doing well in terms of ammo capacity so I'll see how it goes.

I'm using a controller as well which doesn't help with aim but it's got crazy auto aim and I feel like I'm hitting almost all of my shots. I'd use the mouse but I can't stand the input on this game, and I'm playing the Megaton edition so after hearing the complaints on this... yikes.

Finding a few secrets should help you get over the initial shortage. The higher difficulties have some tougher enemies early on - it might also be a viable tactic to try and avoid those initially and find other ways around. Once you get a few more guns it should be less of a problem.
