This game worth it at all during the sale?
I heard Megaton edition was removed which is a shame, but I have never really played a duke nukem game before and wanted to for a while. Is this still worth playing at all or no? I know people blame mainly Randy Pitchford or just Gearbox as a whole so, idk. Let me know to anyone who has experienced the entire game as a whole. I do own Blood Fresh Supply and Shadow Warrior Classic Redux if this is not worth the money.

Honestly for 3.99 it's a really good deal. No this version is not the best for Duke but hey it's still one of the best fps games of all time. It comes with the normal game, 9 new levels that are only in this version of the game, very easy online set up (although hardly anyone plays it), and achievements. I think it's still well worth it for such a cheap price. You can also dump the grp file into Eduke if you are not happy with this version.

Yep, worth it. Megaton wasn't as good as its reputation btw, its elusiveness has made people exagerrate its qualities.

Why wouldn't it be worth the money? You get everything here made by 3D realms + whole new episode. The third party level packs you get with Megaton are for the most part pretty bad (other than Life's a Beach with is pretty good), so you aren't even missing out on much.

megaton came with the expansions that were otherwise lost to history

otherwise in terms of quality i dunno, this does have bots and that on-death rewind feature

I still have Megaton, plus the original digital release of Duke 3d... Both of them handles much better than World Tour. Full Price = NO On Sale = Yes

The original digital version of Duke3d, which was just the DOS files and Dosbox, came with all the DLC too. So they were never lost to history... Just erased by gearbox...

World Tour is not a bad version of Duke Nukem 3D. It has a nice "TRUE 3D" but it was a cheap shot from Gearbox to remove from the stores Megaton edition and DOS version of Duke3d, which was the cheapest way to play Duke 3d using either dosbox or eduke32.

Every retail release of a "Improved" build engine is inferior to Eduke32, which is just common sense... Since Eduke devs keep working on it.. But Megaton is way better than World Tour.

Megaton is literally a fork of JFDuke3D, which EDuke32 was based on years in the past. It's pretty much a decade old version of the same port. At least World Tour have some features of its own.

Rewind is quite silly... If i going to use that feature i rater use god mod...
True 3d is meh. Plus it has issue with user maps....
Alien World order is OK.

Megaton was sold by the same amount that world tour and it had:
-Duke It out DC
-Duke: Nuclear Winter
-Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach


With Megaton edition you got more worth from your money, easy as that. World Tour was just a cheap attempt from Gearbox to get some easy bucks. Nightdive studios had the decency to give discount to those who owned an older version of Blood.. plus you can still buy "Blood: One Unit Whole Blood" .
On the other hand Gearbox went full greedy.. Even if you have the other version of Duke3d you still had to pay full price, PLUS they removed the cheaper version of Duke3d that was being sold with 3D Realms Anthology..

Another example, Shadow Warrior... You can get the "classic" for free and if you want, you can pay for the redux...


When it comes to digital release

-3D Realms Anthology which came with an older version of Eduke32 that can be update in seconds PLUS all the DLC. This was a true bargain.

-Megaton Edition

-World Tour.
But thanks to Gearbox, only World tour is being sold....

You mean thanks for 3DRealms for making contrary contracts for two companies which made Duke Megaton illegal thus taken off the shelves.

Actually, Duke Nukem Megaton Edition was distributed by Devolver Digital. I am unaware of the specifics though.

Could anyone possibly tell me when this will be going on sale if they know? I'd like to buy it, and I see a reference to $3.99 earlier in this thread, but the store currently says $21.99. I don't want to pay $21.99 if I can get it for $3.99.

I would say during the next sale either Halloween or during November. It will go back down. I don't think this port is worth 21.99 i would wait for the next major sale for sure
