How partial is the controller support?
Do you need the mouse, and if so, what for? Also, will it be full controller support in the future?

Most XInput compatible controllers should work, but not all of them. My Logitech F310 works now, but the right analogue stick didn't work prior to the current patch. Navigating the menus with the controller is clunky and I still have yet to figure out how to navigate the options menu with one. The Y axis for looking around is inverted by default, so pushing up looks down, and down looks up, which is annoying but configurable, and the camera pans far to slowly. Mouse and keyboard are highly preferable, as of now, in my opinion.

I do not plan to use mouse and keyboard, Raumelch, but thank you for the recommendation.

Thanks for the information Dee Twenty.

I'm having an issue where my controller constantly pulls down/left and I know I'm not alone becasue there is an option in the menu to disable controller input specifically to solve spinning issues.

I bought the game because of the controller support and am kinda diappointed that I can't play it that way now, but that is what Early Access is for. I belive the developer will fix that issue eventually and, at that point, the game will be worth a buy for those of us who prefer to play slow paced games with a controller.

I use an Xbox 360 wireless controller and really don't seem to have any issues. But than again i pretty much use my Xbox 360 controller to play anything on my computer so i am use to it.

if you have an XBox or similar controller, this should work fine, but it appears that some other types of joysticks and gamepads when plugged in are causing control interference (Often in the form of spinning or continuous shooting). There is now a toggle within the Options | Gamepad menu to entirely disable gamepad/joystick input. This should prevent the control interference/spinning.
hth
you cannot create a new game using the controller. i had to use a keyboard and mouse (a real keyboard - onscreen did not work) to do it but after that i can continue the game normally. only a problem to people like myself using big picture mode.
im necroing this thread but since i found it in google asking the same question ill just add my 2 cents

Just bought it. :meadowfrog: Had no problem starting the game with ma wired XB1 controller (once I'd forced Steam Controller Config off). Controls feel smooth. n_n
