Slime Rancher CO-OP
I have not played this game, but it looked quite a lot of videos of this game and I thought: "Why do developers do not release this game in co-op." I think many will support me, right?) If you want to Ranchero Slyme released in co-op, write + it can somehow attract the attention of developers?)

I have to agree that local co-op is by far greater than online. My best experiences with gaming have been same screen and lan parties.
I do however don't like when some games are local only. It is nice to have both options.

Edit: Oh and I believe most indie devs forego online co-op because net coding is a whole 'nother beast and requires quite a bit of work just to get the game you already had play nice with others.

I definitely agree that co-op would be amazing for this game.

practicality

1: physics engine would de-sync constantly
2: the lag would be unreal if it was a splitscreen and ofc ^
3: the game would be too easy, and what benefit would there be to sharing a ranch? other than playing slimeball ofc
4: the games story fits singleplayer
5: this is too much effort for a rarely requested feature
6: there are more popular suggestions

Let's be real here.

Do you honestly expect such a small dev team with little to no netcode experience to put in multiplayer support, one of the hardest things to optimize/incorporate? They would need to drastically change there management to even start the process of implementing an online mode. The sheer amount of physics ontop of the insane draw calls makes me nauseous thinking about the nightmare that would insue with developing a stable netcode.

Not to be a debby downer but, real world rational thinking versus what you think is a brilliant idea is not so brilliant when it requires dinosauric level coding/cold hard $$$$.

This guy (or gal) gets it. The realest of real, papa bless. The game needs more time in the sun to ferment (IE optimizations of physics/draw calls) before even thinking of such endevors.

I know the thought of playing any game with your friends/family is very enticing. I don't think anyone would deny that, but you need to realize that there is always a method behind all the madness, being that there is already a great number of reasons to not include an online mode at this moment in-time.

The team definitely does have some netcode experience, since they have worked before on Spiral Knights, but still the amount of draw calls and physics in the game won't make multiplayer possible anytime soon.

I would love to have coop regardless of whether it's "easy".

Honestly the only types of multiplayer I would like to have is
1: Have the option to have a friend effect your plort market and yours effect theirs
2: Be able to send a trade to your friend via trade station that will show up the next time it refreshes.

You're very likely never going to buy it then. Miss out on it, if you want because of this unnecessary feature.

Why do people dislike the co-op factor? You're not obligated to play it in this manner and is a fun way to enjoy the game, the game can be grindful and therefore it will be alot more enjoyable with friends.

Official statement from devs:

Will Slime Rancher support multiplayer?
Since we're seeing a lot of requests for a multiplayer feature from all our new (and awesome/handsome/beautiful) players, we thought it would be a good idea to address it.
Most of Slime Rancher's development was done by two people (we're four now, thanks to your support!) so a lot of decisions were made early on to allow two developers to make a game in a realistic timeframe. One of those decisions was multiplayer vs singleplayer.
Multiplayer is inherently more complicated and time-consuming to develop. And the hundreds of physics-enabled slimes bouncing around on screen needing to be in sync across two or more clients is a fantastically difficult problem to solve. So we decided to focus on solid single player experience.
For this reason we currently have no plans for multiplayer. However, anything is possible in the future if we continue to see the same level of wonderful support from players as we do now. So thanks for everything so far!
So in short, multiplayer is not ruled out, but we can't promise it either. And it is worth restating that multiplayer with all of the physics in SR is a very hard problem. SR is a very unconventional game and multiplayer support would require a very creative solution.

People get weirdly defensive about multiplayer requests in games, I am not entirely sure why but I think it has to do with how multiplayer in the 7th gen of console gaming was largely a tacked-on and half-assed feature added to games and a lot of people feel like it devalued the quality of the games.

There's also a small minority of people who hate the idea of games being a 'social thing' and are pretty zealous about keeping it a solitary experience so they form a very, very loud minority.

In the current state of the game multiplayer would be really good. Dunno if I'm just trying to keep too many slimes but atm I'm genuinely having trouble keeping up with farming and selling plorts meaning I have no time to experience the rest of the game. (Like exploring or the workshop)

+ i mean developers can make it singleplayer and multiplayer IN THE FUTURE, when there are more stuff to unlock, biomes, themes, slimes and stuff, cause if the next update would be multiplayer, i would be ok with that but i dont think alot of people would play that, cause its too easy since there is a really small amount of slimes. I completed the game in one day, so if there would be multiplayer i would complete it in couple of hours. BUT i really want slime rancher to have a multiplayer option :)
