Aging hen hens and roostros (help needed)
I stated in a different post that getting the elder verisons of the chickens in this game might be up for luck. And I kind Slime Rancher, replied with a link to the game's forum about the developer revealing how to age the chickens. But I honestly don't know what the developer meant by "Currently, chickens age as they sire offspring. So the more pressure being put on a single hen or roostro to make babies, the higher chance they're become elder."

To me, that is just a riddle that is impossible for me to understand. I just don't understand what the trick is to aging the chickens. I understand getting the hens and roostros stressed out can make them age, but I don't understand how to stress them to get them to age. It's impossible! And currently in my game, all the wild slimes are eating all the hens and roostros available to them so I can't get any elders from the wild. And NONE of my hens and roostros in the Overgrowth expansion are aging at all! I don't understand.

Can someone explain it straight on how to age the hens and roostros to me please?

If you want to get your hens and roostroos to age, you must simply wait, they will age on their own, just like we do. The overgrowth doesn't age the hens, because new ones spawn the next day, therefore they don't have enough time to age.

Okay, but I take hens and roostros from the wild and put them in coops in the overgrowth area. thanks. I just can't figure if there's a balance to how many hens and roostros are in a single coop together. Currently, I have like 5 roostros outnumbered by hens in a coop, and at least one of them I turned elderly.

Will sleeping in the game help pass time?

If you have 12 or more adult chicken (any combinaqtion) in a coop, they hens stop laying eggs and making chicks. So they tend to age slower. I keep 1 Roostro and 3-4 adult hens in a coop, they make babies all the time, and age faster. I feed the elder Roostros and elder Hens to my Boom Tabby Largo's, they'll eat them fast. And I keep Hen Hens, Stony Hens, Briar Hens and Roostros free ranging in The Overgrowth. Never short on meat for my kids.

And yes, sleeping makes the night go by in a blink, but I don't sleep often, I prowl, looking for new areas and ranching all night. Did I mention that I get paid in coffee beans, not coins? :D

Heres how.

Coop- 1-2 hens or roostros you want to age. Then, add 6-8 of the counterpart. Take all excess chicks and grown hen/roostros out, while keeping the original 1-2 amd 6-8 pair. Sleep a couple days and such
The 1-2 henhens/roostros will become elder.

I only encountered 1 elder roostro, and that's when i only had 1 roostro in a coop full of henhens. Since I now basically overflow and stockpile both henhens (and their variants) with roostros I never have any elders spawn.

The important, mechanical bit from the Monomi Park forums that was linked was actually the post just beneath the dev's.

"It takes about six eggs for a Hen to become an elder.

Roostros can sire three times as many chickadoos (that's eighteen) before becoming elders."

When roostros and hens are near each other, eggs are made and hatch into chickadoos. Being involved in that process is what makes the roostros and hens get older. The best way to make them lay eggs faster is by building and upgrading a coop and keeping 1 roostro with under 12 hens. More hens slows down the rate at which they will lay eggs until it completely stops at 12.

It's easier to get them from the wild.

By the way, don't revive old threads...

You get roostros by taking them from the nests around the map. They are rare so they might not be at a nest every time you search.
