Story/Game Spoilers Below
Read the last H note at the "teleporter" then return home, sleep > read mail over and over until you read "another tour" starmail. Then exit the ranch house. [/spoilers]
I don't know what they could have done different but I don't really like the way it is now.
There is A LOT more to do. Ogends Retreat, Mochis Manor, Getting the best ranch, slime pedia, decorating and MUCH MORE
How to unlock them:
Ogends Retreat: The teleporter to the retreat is located between the main ranch area and The Overgrowth, initially in an inactive state. To activate it, either The Moss Blanket Slime Gate or the Ancient Ruins Moss Blanket Gate must be unlocked and The Overgrowth be purchased. A Range Exchange trade must then be completed with Ogden Ortiz and upon doing so, he will send a partnership message via Starmail which will activate the teleporter when read. Note that the trade must be done last.
Mochis Manor: The teleporter to the Manor is located at the entrance to The Grotto, initially in an inactive state. To activate it, either The Indigo Quarry Slime Gate or the Ancient Ruins Indigo Quarry Gate must be unlocked and The Grotto be purchased. A Range Exchange trade must then be completed with Mochi Miles and upon doing so, she will send a partnership message via Starmail which will activate the teleporter when read. Note that the trade must be done last.
Also 1.4.0 is coming in Jan or Feb 2019, which is going to be one of the biggest updates to-date.
The best compared to what?
But maybe I'll build a better farm at some point when I have an idea where to put everything,
Shouldn't be too hard. There aren't that many things in the game.
With what? The Echos aren't enough to properly decorate a farm
Like what? Finding all the treasure pods? Because that might take some time as the lab costs 10k and there are a lot of cheaper things to buy before it.
I hope it adds more places to explore.
Ogdens Retreat and Mochis Manor are both rancher expansions (basically new ranches).
Ogdens Retreat has a new biome with slimes, treasures etc..
Mochis Manor has a minigame (don't want to spoil too much).
Both have new slimes and challenges/quests which give many BIG rewards.
1.4.0 (vikors experimental update) is adding a new slime, new ranch expansion, probably a minigame and/or biome at his ranch, challenges etc..
There is even more, you just have to explore.. (also 7zee rewards [found in the ranch house], but they are quite the grind. it will take you a while to complete it).
EDIT: Also unlock the lab, lots of interesting things.
How much do all tiers cost together?
That could take some time as it costs 10k and there are other places I still need to unlock that cost less.
All together they cost 1,326,500 newbucks
10k isn't much, make tangle-mosaic largos. they have the best money.

I'll get some of those. Although I still want to have a diverse farm
Seriously, GET THE LAB!
Hint: Teleport tech. It will make your life so much nicer. Oh yea, Drones. DRONES, yes.
GET THE LAB.
You will need to have slimes from both Moss Blanket and Indigo Quarry. (NB: You don't need to unlock them if you can get in.)
Some things do require quantum plorts.
I have not yet found things that require glass desert, but I do know that they exist -- there are location-specific resources that you can only get there. I'll probably get those items once I unlock that.
