Flying Straight Up with Vacpack?
Is it normal that it is hard to fly straight upward with the vacpack? When I enter the Moss Blanket, for example, I find it very convenient to walk on the high rocks instead of facing the tarrs down in the area, and so I need to fly up above the rocks to get up there. (There are always tarr outbreaks every time I enter the Moss Blanket.) But very often when I try to fly straight upward, there seems to be an invisible ceiling blocking me from going any higher. Is it intended that the vacpack cannot be used this way? It has been a little frustrating when I cannot fly right.

Thanks!

It's intended. After flying upwards with Jetpack for few seconds, you can't fly higher unless you hit the ground or stop using it.

Yep. Totally normal(as are Tarr outbreaks in areas with more than 2 tu ypes of Slimes). I always go up at an angle, rather than straight up. Of use litl stepped areas and ledges to boulder hop to the top of the walls. Alot less freustrating than trying to go straight up and away from Tarrs, only to run out of juice or hit that glass ceiling and drop straight back down onto a Tarr or 2 or 3. :D

Since it seems the Devs primary way of keeping players out of yet unlocked areas is by high ledges i can only assume the jet back is intentionally hobbeled in this manner to prevent you from getting into areas you haven't unlocked yet.

As it stands however ive found that with atleast level 2 jetpack and energy upgrades, some patience and time you can actualy bypass alot of the locked doors. It seems this has been doable since the very earliest of beta versions and from what i can tell the devs have never made any moves to put and end to such creative exploration(which i find very chill of them!).

If your having trouble with Tarr outbreaks i can't reccomend the water tank upgrade enough! If thoes unruly Tarr ever get in your face just turn the hose on em! They'll melt before your hydrolic power!

If you cant afford the water tank upgrade but your in the moss blanket biome a cheaper solution is to just suck the Tarr and launch them into the various ponds in the biome where they will melt in a few seconds.

As for the jetpack i find its best to use it as a tool to parkour the various walls by hopping onto ledges and boulders. Keep in mind after you jump the jetback will only give you a small vertical boost after which you are pretty much hang gliding. After you initially leave the ground look for and glide to a boulder or ledge that is slightly higher or level to yourself. Once you land on that surface hop up again and boost to the next ledge in a simalar fasion.
Rinse repeat and eventualy you'll be cat walking the boarder walls.

Hope this helps :2016snocone:

that never stopped me, I made it to the ruined temple by climbing the rocks in the moss blanket, and then jetpacking across, you can climb clear out of the map, just not easily
