Does anyone know any tips for ranching Tangle Slimes?? :|
I wanna try and ranch 8 different types of Tangle Largoes on my ranch as well as all providing them their favorite food-painted hens. The part where I farm the chickens and stuff is easy, but the hard part is knowing where to put all the Tangle Largoes 3:
When I put all 32 tangle slimes into their pens and transformed most of them into largoes, I saw one of the tangle slimes grabbing a honey plort with it's vine that was meant for the tangle slimes in the other pen :C
I immediately realized that putting them in these areas close together was a mistake-as their vines can reach stuff from far away and cause chaos! A moment later a tarr was born and now I didn't exactly know where I should've put my tangle Largoes and chickens 3:>
So if anyone has any tips for at least minimizing the dangers of the tangle largoes, that would be very helpful :\

I don't know how it would work with so many different types but I have my Tangle Hunter largos in corral in the overgrowth and then I'm free ranging chickens there so they're self feeding (since they can reach out of the corral and grab chickens), currently I also have Honey Devish largos there in another corral and so far I haven't had any tarr outbreaks, so if you put them in corrals pretty far away from each other it should work I think

They seem to only be able to reach as far as adjacent plots, so maybe put them someplace where they aren't next to anything? Like the grotto or overgrowth. Personally I keep mine in the science area, there's one plot way back that isn't close to anything at all. I have tangle/mosaic largos there.

Having 8 different types of tangle largos would be too difficult. One type of tangle largo is difficult enough to ranch. As you know, you would need one pen for each largo, far away from any other pen and use the plots that are close to their pens to put silos or food that you don't mind them eating. You can use 3 pens in your main ranch, 2 in the overgrowth area, 2 in the grotto, 2 in the lab, 1 in the docks... that would be the only pens were I would put the largos if I were going to ranch so many tangle largos.

Ok, thanks for the info; I'll also probably put my fire slimes in the grotto just to fill up that last space :P

Well I think it's possible, that's one of the reasons I'm attempting it...and I'm also doing it to see if I should have Dervish Largoes or Tangle Largoes, as well as their favorite foods :\

Ok(well so long as the Tangle Slimes in the overgrowth also eat their favorite food that I give them :\):P

I put mine in the overgrowth on the raised platform. I think I might put them in a lower plot where chickens wander more as I noticed their shoots that pop up can go fairly far out and they can feed themselves on free range chickens and I could keep a coop of painted ones on the other side for them to have special meals. ;) Or maybe I can just free range them in that area? Though running around scooping up plorts like that was never fun when I had tabby-honey largos bouncing around. I like just walking up to the collector and vacing them out of there, more time efficient. Has anyone free ranged the Tangles yet?
1. Don't turn them into pink largos if you gonna put them next to a garden
2. If your only options are a corral right next to a garden plant something they won't eat in there

Example: In the main area of the ranch (where the house is) there's four isolated plots (2 right next to the house and two on the way to the overgrowth). I placed them on a corral and on a garden right next to it I planted something they don't eat (hence why I said to not make pink largos if you gonna put them next to gardens)

Here's a list of isolated plots where you can put them:

Two on the main area (as I said above with gardens and stuff)
Two on the Overgrowth
Four on the Grotto (excluding the one in the middle)
One on the Lab (behind it)

if you only have tangle largos on your ranch, i think you could just about fit them all. only 1 in the docks, all 4 spots in the overgrowth are probably far enough away to use for corrals, one on the upper level beside your house, one at the pair before the entrance to the overgrowth, one of the 4 plots in the main area, the 3 on the lower part of the grotto should be far away enough too i think, and then one on the upper level, one in the back of the lab, and one of the 4 in the main part of the lab. just have to pick and choose which food goes where.thats 14 spots for 12 possible largos. though this is really all just speculation as i've never done a proper test of the range of their vines.

Oh! Prehaps I should plan to add 3 crystal tangle largoes in that back spot; didn't really think about the back spot all that much...although at the same time that'd make it a little harder to manage all these largoes since I realized just how hard farming chickens is X|
(Also that thing you said about the garden and Tangle Largoes is helpful as well, since now I'm starting to think about what slimes I should feed chickens which I should feed fruit and which ones I should feed veggies...)
(...I mean, I'm honestly stumped on how exactly I should make my ranch since I need 8 plorts for slime science gadgets(pink, rocky, tabby, phosphor, boom, rad, honey, and hunter) and I also wanna make lotsa money to purchase the higher-end stuff in the 7Zee rewards club, but I also want my ranch to be efficient 3:)

Yeah the farming chickens for some of the slimes is the tough part. That is why I create Largos that are part meat eater and part veggie/fruit eater. Then I grow the veggie/fruit that is that half's favorite and feed them nothing but that. I get the two plorts of each slime type that way. If you are doing Crystal/Tangle it is tough as odd onions are tough to get aren't they? They grow lots of carrots and a little onion. Maybe make a Mosaic/Tangle and put them in the overgrowth? You can grow the food they like and they can also snag chickens that walk by. ;)

Well, yeah, although I'm kinda having trouble choosing between whether to farm chickens or crops for my slime largoes, cause there's advantages and disadvantages to both 3:
You get more food from farming crops but you have to replace their tree/bushel every now and then and you don't really have to replace chickens all that much but you get less food from them, even if you have about a dozen chicken coops 3:
And another tough part of this is that I want my ranch to be efficient. I want it to not take up too much space, not have to replace several different crops(and maybe chickens) at a time and I all want to give each and every slime their favorite food, especially since I can get twice the plorts and sell some of those plorts for money, while using the others in my gadgets. And I'd rather have all my slimes in corrals so that grabbing plorts from them isn't too much of a hassle either 3:
(although I've definitely tried free-ranging my slimes; the first time I did that was with rocky-phosphors in the grotto :'P)(...but when it comes to efficiency...it's not the best unfortunately :c)
(Soooo I wonder if I should grow just crops/crops and chickens?? Cause growing both crops and raising chickens takes up more space, but ensures that my slimes still have some food if the crops run out and they're nowhere to be found-especially if all my largoes are able to eat meat in some way :\)
(Prehaps I should've asked a different question when starting this disscussion...)

I just grow crops and keep at least one of every 15 in a silo or two, or you could use the transport thingys to hold them like a silo. But now that I can pull food out of the feeders I load those up as much as I can and if say I run out of heart beats, I vac one out of the feeder and plant it. I never have to go looking in the wild for crops to grow that way.

I must say the changes they made to let us vac food out of feeders and to set the frequency, as well as the port collector switch to run on demand, were some nice little tweaks that have helped farming immensely.

Well I know you can vac food outta feeders now(since 0.5.1), but if I'm on a long journey or something exploring a new area/finding treasure pods or something the food in my feeders is BOUND to run out, so I could do either of two things(or both): supply some chickens to the slimes as an emergency food supply incase there's not enough crops to sustain the slimes, or put that 15th crop in a silo(like you said) :\
(I think I've got a new ranch system created- a system with 5 largoes-capable of eating meat and veggies/fruits; one of which is a largo specifically for making money/incase I somehow need crystal plorts. The other 4 are useful for gadgets, or; if I have plenty of plorts for gadgets already, selling their plorts for money :P)

Working on the 7zee rewards is super grindy and probably not worth the time and money, if you really want it, well, there's no short path to it you gonna be grinding a lot.
