Items lost when I died showed up in rock circles at the Docks

I died / got knocked out while I had a bunch of ornaments and some Echos in my inventory. I was SO disappointed when I woke back up and was missing all of them, because I'd been carrying my entire collection to a new place and accidentally backed off a wall into water. The worst possible timing for getting knocked out!

Then, about an hour later (earth time, not Slime Rancher time), I happened to notice many (maybe all, but maybe not) had appeared in the stone circles down on the beach by the pier at The Docks:

Wow! What a relief to find some of them again! I'm guessing perhaps some of the other items I had in my inventory might show up at other rock circles I've seen in different places in the world?

Does anyone know anything more about this?

that's a feature specifically of the docks. to my knowledge, it only happens when falling into the slime sea. though i may be wrong.

Do the stone circles have a specific name? I don't see anything about them on the Wiki.

Got to actually correct that a bit, the code just checks for a death not the cause.

- what is the criteria for what items you get back?
- are there places other than The Docks your items could respawn?

first point, the code implies it is 50% rounded floor of your inventory but I've yet to actually confirm that.

Second point, only the docks has this trait.

year old thread but i guess i'm gonna say I am very pissed , had like 100 chickens in 2 types of them ( was going to feed 2 gorgo slimes each for 50 , I always check my stamina guess I for some reason couldn't jump on jet pack within 19 stamina , went to the sea lost everything got only around 12 chickens from 100 in the port , that's honestly the most frustrating and depressing thing in my opinion.

Well could have not gotten anything back. Also, sucks that you were at 19 as the minimum for the jetpack to kick in is 20... not that it necessarily would have helped depending on the gap.
