I think it depends on the rancher and what areas you have access to. Starting off I suggest a load of Pink Slimes cause they eat any kind of food so even though they have the lowest prices together after a while selling all those plorts at up to a great start! :D

Next I'd suggest getting the feline slimes, Tabbies and/or Hunters. They are meat eater slimes and they specifically get hungry more often and their plorts are worth more than Pink's. So if you keep them well fed, they'll have a bunch of plorts to sell.

Yet, Puddle Slimes are one of the best slimes. They don't need to be fed cause they live in a pond which is their food source, so they plort daily, and they don't cause trouble or need much care. All you need to do is to remember to collect their plorts to sell.

I haven't gotten to the end of the game myself, yet I still felt I had good suggestions that could be helpful for you. Feel free to ask me if you need locations of some slimes cause I might know. I wish you luck :D

if you're willing to play the long(ish) game you can grab some mid - high end slimes and stockpile their plorts, never selling until you're ready to collect. Just started a new save yesterday and ive been stockpiling crystals. Have about 10K worth of plorts right now as I havent sold a single crystal plort in the entire save so their worth is reaching like 105$

Question is, why do you want the best method? What stage of the game are you in? What do you enjoy doing?

For example, I'm still on my 2nd zone (I opened Moss Blanket first, Indigo Quarry second; I upgraded the Overgrowth, the Lab and the Docks) but what I basically do is this: corrals with every slime I know, next to garden/coop of their favorite food.

I keep tabbies and booms on the Overgrowth because they have reguarly spawn hen hens near them. And then, I just save the plorts in a silo whenever their price is low. As soon as they rise, I sell in batchs. This way I've been able to upgrade all of those.

But that's because I enjoy taking care of the ranch! I love doing tasks and that's why with that many slimes I always have some to feed. In fact, I have to stop myself from just feeding them, as I need to explore too. Fortunately slimes can't die of starvation lol.

Also, all of my gardens are fully upgraded (except for the tarr one, I don't think I need it), so that it grows 15 whatever, and I keep 15 herbivorous slimes. Pinks and Crystal are exceptions: I have only 10 pinks because they don't have food of their own (lol) so I just give them the scraps, and 15 was too much; and only 10 crystals because odd onions grow pretty badly.

As for the carnivorous slimes, I keep 5 each because chicken grow slowlier. Ah, and don't forget water slimes, you can keep 4 in a pond and forget about them.

I'm taking it easy and buying lots of stuff, but it seems to work for me, but I don't know what's your goal.

I think I was drunk when I posted this lmao but the current setup ive got is:

Rad-Crystal Largos in Grotto Free-ranging Oca-Oca
Honey-Boom Largos in Overgrowth Free Ranging Mangos (or whatever they are callled)
Central Area is Farm, Storage, Incinerator and Pond
Docks is Farm and Puddle Plorts

Is this good? I havent travelled through the portal yet and im planning on Largo farming those ones but could I make any improvements?
