Prickle Pear Issue

I've been to the Glass Desert a few times now, and I have everything I need back on my ranch, both slime- and food-wise, except for the Prickle Pears. I've seen them growing on the two trees I've found there, and they're fully grown, but I cannot vac them up. Every single time I've been there, they're just sitting on the trees, but I can't take them. Is it because I haven't unlocked any of the Oases yet? Or is it just a bug?

Might just be a bug, but they are more frequent with the oases

If you trade with other ranchers, you will often pick up items like the prickle pear. Try swapping chickens with Bob.

I got my first prickle pair from a box underneath the first gordo you see when first entering the glass desert. then I'd find them just laying around. Are you sure they're fully grown when they're on the tree? It could be a timing thing or just that the look fully grown on trees but aren't.
but nevermind what I just said; you should be able to vac them up even if they're small.
