You can put all chickens in a silo which no slime can get in. It'll protect them as well as not age any of them.
Also, it sounds like you're keeping your wild pink smiles too close to their coop. Slimes can't notice food that's all the way across the main plot of the ranch. For example, those 4 plots bunched together you can have slimes there, meanwhile you can raise chickens in coops in the 2 fenced off area next to the Overgrowth and your slimes will never notice the chickens.
If there's random slimes coming onto your ranch, just vac them up and shoot them off the ranch.
