Elder hens
how long does it take for the hen hen to grow old? i've slept a couple of days to speed up the process but its seems the roostroo are the only ones getting old.

Its a random chance, although I don't recall if it is on breeding cycles or successful breeds that it checks

Chickens get stressed out with too many mates, so they grow old. It happened cause the coop wasn't emptied for a while and more mates appeared and stressed out your roostro.

yea. tried too clear out my coop and put 1 hen hen with 6 roostroos, hen hen turned old in 3 days. just 100% my achievement.

While your point has some merit, it seems to imply that the more chickens around the quicker they go elder which isn't entirely true. That makes it easier to breed which means more eggs which means more checks to become elder, it does not how ever increase the odds directly, only increasing the frequency of the check which checks those odds.

I don't know about coops, but I freerange my chickens in the overgrowth (~>200 of them) and I find an elder hen or roostro about every other day, sometimes more frequently.

ironically they are rarer with free range due to a lower chance of breeding.
