The truth behind BOb

If you haven't already figured it out by now, BOb is actually just a bunch of pink slimes in a trenchcoat. Now by itself this isn't very intriguing and is just a harmless funny joke by the devs. But when you think about it a little more, BOb is able to (almost) create human sentences and even utilize machinery as shown with the range exchange and viktor's lab story.

This shows that the slimes are capable of much higher thought and mental evolution then they appear to show, and there is most likely something else much bigger at play here. If the slimes could think for themselves at the level BOb does, why would they let the player capture them, and appear to be indifferent to it?

Perhaps because they are merely pawns being controlled by a greater force to inspect our every move, organic surveillance cameras, and BOb is actually a member of them, here to make sure everything goes according to plan and that we don't step out of line. This would explain the unusable mega-teleporter at the end, which actually leads to the secret home-dimension where BOb is from. Where our slimey overlords watch our every move.

Why are the only locations we can ever see on the map the Far-Far-Range? Why would BOb continuously ask us for chickens? It's simple...

The slimes are not the ones being ranched...
WE ARE.

And to them, we produce chickens. Just as the lesser slimes produce plorts for us, and just as we own a plot of land on the Far-Far-Range, BOb owns the entirety of the Far-Far-Range, and each human inhabitant is simply a slime in a corral to him.

This would also explain why BOb works as Viktor's supposed "assistant", in order to gain access to his chicken cloner blueprints.

Personally like the theory that BOb is Bob better. (Bob being a npc from the prototypes that stopped appearing when BOb was added.)

Reading all of this, has put a smile on my face! I love BOb! I've known he was a pile of pink slimes for a while after noticing it for myself a long time ago. And if your theory is true, I'll happily keep BOb well fed with all the chickens he asks for!

And yes, BOb's intelligence is very impressive compared to the slimes we see around Far Far Range. I don't know, but maybe there's a good number of slimes that enjoy the simple life of getting fed and can avoid the Tarrs. And there's others like BOb who are more intelligent and are using their smarts to the best of their ability to trick ranchers into giving them free chickens! Though the other numerous slimes like BOb might live on another planet than where we are placed, so we never see them unless through the exchange and starmail. And maybe those smarter slimes are trying to get smarter to write even better than BOb manages to so they could be even sneakier about asking others for free food.

Either way, I'd give them the food they want cause slimes are just so CUTE! :D

Personally, I suspect that BOb's intelligence is in fact an aberration, and the vast majority of slimes are not actually capable of doing what he does. Perhaps the plort-cloning machine mentioned in one of the loading screen rumors was responsible. Incidentally, I've managed to come up with an idea for BOb's expansion area: Slime Ranch! Name is based on Animal Farm, but the concept is less Orwell and more Lovecraft; not all the results of the machine were so stable and/or harmless, especially the second-order results onward. Some people (myself included) want something resembling a real fight, and putting it in an optional side-area is a decent compromise for those who don't.

BOb could have been a product of plort cloning/testing where they were trying to create hybrid slimes that, at least in BOb's case developed a preference for other types of food. Pink slimes will eat ANYTHING but BOb specifically wants CHIKEN, which is something more typically seen from Tabby or other chicken loving slimes. Maybe it doesn't necessarily mean anything, and certainly doesn't mean BOb is capable of popping out double plorts from chickens, but it is strange how obsessed he is with them.

Perhaps BOb was an earlier experiment of Victor's or a colleague's where they tried to learn more about slime sentience and so used BOb in a educational experiement.

Maybe BOb isn't getting chickens for himself... themselves??? but instead as treats for other slimes in the lab (ROOSTROS especially).

Or maybe he's keeping them as pets or developing a chicken army. Honestly there's more chickens that slimes in this world and I wouldn't be surprised for a revolution anytime. xD

If they made a BOb expansion it'll be filled with chickens and totem slimes and that's all I honestly need from it. I feel like BOb's ranch expansion would probably be like more minigame centric honestly rather than battles or racing and stuff since they're is in a lab and they'd probably want to keep them in top shape and happy, but if you were given an outside world to explore around BOb it could literally be anything as long as it was a bit weird.

I don't care if BOb was an experiment and he had been released or escaped and gotten his own ranch somewhere and always asks for chickens! He's so cute! I don't care if he's getting them for himself or other slimes he has himself. I love whenever he messages me cause his request is so innocent and his made up of slimes! Cutie slimes I that I love when they are happy and smiling :D

Well, he's a pile of slimes without fingers. I'm not surprised he can't type well so he has a random string of letters with his requests. I'm more impressed a fingerless slime was even able to use a keyboard and understand English enough to request chickens. It's very impressive, I can't imagine how he does it, unless he can morph limbs for a bit to type, idk. But yeah, I can see why he can be creepy.
