advice on containing boom slimes?
recently went out and collected an extra 10-ish boom slimes while exploring the quarry, and i noticed that after introducing them to the boom-slime corral, i've started getting boom escapees.

they have a music box, hen-hens, and a toy in there to keep them calm, plus high walls and an air net, but evidently that isn't enough.

anything else i could do to keep them in the corral? or is there just a maximum number of boom slimes that can fit in a pen before they start escaping?

The top net only takes a few hits and then fails. After some time it recharges. I'm not sure on the exact numbers of anything, but if you have too many slimes that can jump/explode so that they are hitting the top they will eventually escape. I only ranch largos and I go a bit conservative typically keeping 5 largos in a pen. At five in a pen I have seen the occasional boom/tabby/hunter/sabre variety get out. I don't think I've seen any other types get out, and it's pretty rare with such a small number (rare enough that I think these escape might be glitches rather than real escapes - I have never actually seen one perform the escape for instance, only ever come into an area to see one out).

In any case you can fit more normal slimes than largos, but there is some limit before you start having problems.

(Although escapes are really rare at only 5 in a pen I do see plorts having been blown out of corrals somewhat more frequently.)

currently trying to solve the problem by just hanging around the corral and vaccing up any escapees to dump into the slime-sea. at some point they'll probably reach a point where that stops right?

currently at 9 in the vacpac right now... so dang. i was hoping to increase their population, looks like it's going to stay about the same.

I'd recommend going for boom largos by mixing them with non meat-eating slimes. I have 10 rad boom largos in one corral (fully upgraded, 2 toys). They always have 100 oca ocas in their feeders which means they never get hungry and thus the agitation is at its minimum. Since oca ocas are rad's favourite food, you'll get 2 boom plorts (and 2 rad plorts), which means it's pretty much the same as having 20 boom slimes (which would be way more annoying to feed with the rate at which chickens reproduce).

For booms and other slimes that explode/jump/cause tornados, i recommend a max ot 5 to 8 per corral. This is solely dependant on how much you are around said slimes and what upgrades you have.

IF you are around often, go 8. If you like to venture away or are still doing the story, i'd go five to six.

Also, the slimes are programmed to explode and bounce. When starving or hungry, boom slimes explode more. Dervish make larger tornados. Tabbys, hunters and sabers jump higher when hungry.

In addition, they don't learn lol. I have had my hunters jump out of their corral. So, i opted to go down on the numbers and went down one by one until i reached a good number. Which was about 8.

You can also have drones do the cleanup for you, lol. Have them vac up loose slimes and place them back in the corrals.

haven't had any problems with tabby slimes. just the odd pink and boom escapees so far. don't have hunter slimes or anything from the ruins or beyond just yet. Looks like i'll get at most two boom slimes escaping nowadays, but that's only if i'm in the same area they're in. if i'm on some other part of the farm, they seem to be fine.

I have 10 Boom Hunter Largo's and they never escape their enclosure. I've never tried more than 10 tho, so maybe that's why.
