Why are you commenting negatively about the game if you find it boring/don't like it? That's pointless.
The points you made, about gameplay being basic or slimes not being interesting, won't matter much in a game like this - there's no need to overcomplicate farming (you plant, water and harvest). Slimes being boring is subjective, people en masse consider them adorable because their design is quite cute.
The reason why nobody agrees with you on those things is because of difference in taste not because of the quality of the game - it's actually a really well done one.
This is such a weird question, because I don't think there's really an answer. Some people can give you essays as to why they enjoy a specific task, while others can't. Sometimes things just find certain tasks to be fun, and the reason is only "I find it to be fun".
Slime Rancher is obviously a fun game to all of those who continuously play it, and those who have positively reviewed it. It is, at its core, a management simulator. You do a lot of repetitive tasks -- farming, feeding, harvesting, building -- to improve your ranch over time. The reward is in the journey itself -- the rewards come in finding your own groove, in finding the way that your ranch works optimally for your personal desires and preference. The game is colorful and cheerful, the slimes are cute, the objects we interact with are bright and soft and enjoyable to look at. The environments are beautiful and movement is fluid and smooth, the sound design is wonderful. There are plenty of positive elements in game that keep people coming back for more.
If you don't like management games -- of which Stardew Valley is also one, in many ways -- then this game may not be for you. It not being your type of game does not make the game unfun. Cuphead is not my type of game -- that does not mean Cuphead isn't fun. And this game not being your type of game is not a flaw of the game, nor of you personally. If Slime Rancher cannot hold your interest, then you shouldn't waste your money on it, and should instead try to find a game that you'd enjoy more thoroughly.
Also remember that if you're struggling to find fun in most things, you should talk to someone about this. Whether it be a family member, or a friend.
Clearly didn't get far enough if you call the farming "very basic".
also anything can be fun. if it were just the farming, it'd be okayish, but the game is a package deal: A fun game can derive "funness" from aesthetic, music, world, etc.
But then how would he refund it if it was beyond 2 hours and didn't like it even then.
See some games don't have to be fun. Just like some people don't have to comment about things they don't like. Some games the object is not exactly fun but they give you a job you like to do in relation to the boring real life job you don't like to do.
