You will better understand if you look for information about it in the games slimepedia. But in short, the odd onions never grow in patches lorewise, they only grow around other vegetables. I found it much easier to just mix my crystal slimes with another so that I could get double plorts much easier.

i'm a bit curious as to why they grow carrots specifically though as those are an earth vegitable that was cultivated there.

Because the odd onion is odd!

fair enough.

Yeah, it's cute lore-wise but it sucks when trying to actually raise Crystal slimes. Just gotta make them gordos with a slime that has a better food source.

well you don't really need crystal plorts for much so it's not that bad tbh.

its probably for balance, since i think odd onions are supposed to be quite rare.

I just throw the carrots in with the Onions
Is funny, but not useful. This just make people hybrid the crystal slimes to avoid the annoyance.
I combine mine with Rad, and feed them Oca Oca.
They're a rare growth.
If you plant an odd onion, you'll get mostly carrots and only a few onions.

what if they don't WANT to be onions, and want to be carrots! let your plants follow their dreams! :balloon:

Odd Onions form a trio with Roostros and Phase Lemons, where they are the item in their food category that is difficult to get.

It used to be that getting phase lemons from your farm plot had the same requirement as getting them in the wild, but that made them extremely inconvenient to farm since they'd never drop off their trees naturally, so it was changed. The challenge for phase lemons is now mainly figuring out how to get one in the first place.

not really that hard to find your first phase lemon. before knowing how to get them proper, i just went around breaking open crates until i found one and was able to read up on it.
