Tips for a new Rancher?
Hey, I just started this game because I've seen so many people playing it and 30 seconds after starting I was kicking myself for not playing it sooner. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is so good.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you kind people have some tips for someone just starting up their ranch? Things that might make things smoother. No spoilers though please :) Not looking for guides to secrets or anything like that.

I have some gameplay of my progress so far: https://youtu.be/5Vvq0Bs2sq8

Thanks for your time!

I'd say remove some of the pink slimes. Eventually you're going to want to start mixing them, and that amount is going to make it overcrowded.

Just a tip, you technically don't need the key to the Moss Blanket... If you have the jetpack. You said no spoilers so I won't elaborate, but you will figure it out eventually. Also, never make tabbies and boom largos unless you have a very great amount of hen hens. Always upgrade your first corral, trust me, slimes can jump and stack.

PILLAR.

Thanks for your advice guys! I took it all into consideration and I made some good progress on the ranch :D

the magic number for me is six. Six Largo slimes to a pen with an autofeeder and autocollector. It's enough to process the food into plorts over time without further attention or waste, six largos being the most efficient since the Collectors can store and stockpile two types.

Six is also the rough number of carnivores a single pen can maintain, but coops are a complete PITA compared to gardens.

If you want disturbing levels of fun, money, and vacuuming, fill the cave section with cuberry trees and let 30 or so night slimes go free-range. Just don't install the scarecrow upgrade.

Those are some awesome suggestions, thanks! I'll try those out because I really want to get some fast money to get up to the new patch content for my vids.

Also, even though they're rather dangerous and you gotta be cautious, Honey Boom Largos work well for me when farming!

The only real limit to how much you can make is limited by your supply of food. It's not a poor idea to have more food production than corrals. This will also help you significantly when it comes to feeding Gordos.

So put down a gardens with carrots, upgrade the height on your starting pen, and pump about 30 pinks into it once the crop comes in.

if you're feeling really riley, pump 15 pinks into the pen, then shoot in a cat or stony plort and turn them into a writhing mass of largos for more income. Just remember to put a lid on! Just be prepared to purge the pen later on, since you only want pinks for the initial fundraising effort.

Once you know what you're doing, it's really easy to 'start' with 10-15 stony-cat largos with a couple vegetable fields. It can pay off to go as far as you can on day 1.

Start with unlocking the 'Moss Blanket' zone at the very far end of your initial starting zone once you can obtain a key. This gives you access to puddle slimes, honey slimes, boom slimes, the rare hunter slimes, as well as mango fruits. This can really help diversify your ranch. The other two areas don't offer nearly as diverse a biome.

Thanks guys, more awesome tips. I did upgrade the ranch to have two carrot patches in my latest ep recorded, so I can keep up with feeding the three types of slimes I currently have. I did find some puddle slimes, so I guess I should build a pond and grab them too? I think I'm ready to stat phasing out the pink slimes...

Asoon as you get enough money grab it by the balls and start making hybrids in new areas it will work out in the long run trust me!

You can fit five puddle slimes in a pond, which isn't bad considering you don't need to feed them. You know you have too many in a pond when you see them 'blush'

I've been a little busy, I don't get major progress made because I have to make videos for other games. But your tips have really helped me a lot, so thanks guys, honestly.

Zourin - in my latest ep I took your advice about the grotto, it was a lot of fun setting that up and I can't wait to see what madness ensues :) Thanks dude.
Store plorts until their prices are high- then sell them all for loads of money.
Examples:
1. I have a Pink Slime farm (garbage disposal for food I don't need) in the Overgrowth that I easily surpassed 200 Plorts on. When the price of PP rose to 14, I sold them all and got rich.

2. http://steamcommunity.com/app/433340/guides/#scrollTop=692
Very overpowered. Do this, use the upper two plots in the Grotto to store Phosphor plorts, and wait for a Phosphor price of 20-25+. Then sell them.
I got a price of 24 and sold... 400... for 9600 Newbucks in one day.

Bought the cave just so i can raise Phoshper slime/largo. I did figured out that if i plan cubbery trees and throw them around it would feed themselves. It did, and you don't need to maintain it that much. Just visit it for plort. Swim in money after that.

Cheers buddy. I'll look into those for future eps.
