Slime Rancher Startup Issue
Every time I start my game since this evening, it opens with a black screen and the windows "open game bar" tooltip is blue instead of green. The screen stays black and all the graphics are gone, but there is still sound; I can hear the menu screen. I have to do ctrl alt del to get out of it and close it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, restarting my computer, copying the _CommonRedist folder from Unturned into the game folder, and a bunch of other things, but it's still not fixed. Also, before I removed the Steam overlay from the game, the shift tab tooltip would act like it was cycling up and down really quickly in the bottom corner.
I have looked through a bunch of help things, but they are all from last year, and I only had this issue starting after the newest update installed.
My laptop is Lenovo on Windows 10 home, with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics and AMD A8-6410 APU.
Any fixes or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've been having this same issue, I have been tyring to get the support team's help, but so far their advice has been things I already tried. I hadn't played the game in a long time, so it hashappened after the update and after a graphics driver update.
I have a Lenovo laptop on Windows 10 home, with NVIDIA GTX 860M

I've been playing it almost every day since I got it, I think last Friday, and the issue started right after the most recent patch.

I've noticed this issue with a few other games in my library too, but everything I've tried has still failed. I used my settings to update Windows 10, I downloaded the DirectX software to remove any possible corruptions, I'm struggling to find further solutions as this exact issue doesn't seem to have been resolved yet.

Same symptoms for me on Linux.

I resolved it by opening up the config file, setting fullscreen to 0, and the game loaded, however switched itself to fullscreen after a while.

Seems buggy =) but is working for me now. Has to be done every startup.

What's the directory for the config file? Like which folders do I go through to get to it? I don't mind doing that if it's the only way to get it to work until it's patched.

I haven't tried opening any of my other games recently. I wonder if it wasn't just the Slime Rancher patch then that broke it? I only started having the issue with it after the patch.

Well... for Linux it would be...
~/.config/unity3d/Monomi Park/Slime Rancher

Windows, you could try searching for unity3d or Monomi Park. Since it's Unity, it wont be in the install directory, probably users/appdata.

I found out you can just set the games launch options instead...
Right click the game in steam, properties, set launch options under general...

-screen-fullscreen 0

That didn't fix it =/ all it did was make it open in windowed mode, then it switched to fullscreen, and there were still no graphics either way.

The windowed mode doesn't work for me either way, and I've tried it with one of my other games that is failing. Still had no success yet.

To add to this, I've been looking at the files of a select few games that all have this issue (I'm not checking all 100 of my games), the ones with the issue are all running on Unity. :/

I think it's something about missing a file but I don't know how to fix it.
