Begin with collecting around 10-15 Slimes of each type. Build Silos to store 2 types of 200 of their Plorts for shortfall days when their prices are high. 'Borrow' from this reserve Plort stock when few or no Plorts are available in the Slime Corals. 'Pay' them back afterwards out the Corals. This way keeps Plorts available to sell immediately without waiting for them to collect. Any excess Plorts inject them into the Refinery. Store 100 units each of your Slimes favourite food. Feed them these foods when Plorts are low. Otherwise save them & feed Slimes common foods. Make sure you save at least one favourite food each so you can grow them again if you cancel production. Reduce Slime count down when you have ample Plorts by getting rid of Slimes. Food will then become more manageable too. Move onto Largo Slimes ASAP. They produce 2 types of Plorts:
Personally I now have:
5 Largo Pink/Honey Slimes.
5 Largo Phospher/Tabby Slimes.
5 Largo Rock/Hunter Slmes.
5 Largo Boom/Rad Slimes.
5 Crystal Slimes. (Awaiting another type to combine)
I've yet to discover a few others too.
A word of warning.
Largo Slimes could Tarr by eating a foreign Plort in it's Coral. To minimise this, make sure food is always in the Corals. Install a Turret nearby the Corals too for added Slime protection when able. Set auto feeders to level 2 & check food stock occasionally. If to much foods in a Coral, vac it up & reinject it back into the Feeder to save it from rotting. Non meat only.
This I find keeps things ticking over nicely. Although it can take a good while to get this far, this strategy or similar does work. Hope helps all Slime Ranchers.
