The chickens work like this. There's a rule of 12 to them. If there's 12 adult chickens in the coop both roostros or hen hens of any kind, they'll STOP having babies. Also, one roostro with 3 hens to mate with, he'll get stressed out. Balance it out so each hen has their own roostro. Chicks take a day to grow up, so DON'T let the coop get full of adults or no more babies! Also, if there's too many mates for your chickens, they can get stress out and age into an elder roostro or an elder hen. When they become elders, they no longer have babies, and won't be much of help. But don't be afraid if some become elders, slimes will still happily eat the elders. I don't know how many chicks are laid normally, but if you keep the adult population in the coop low, then you'll still get more babies.
Also, roostros are rarer than any of the hens. So in case all your roostros turn into elders, you can remove them and see if you'll get lucky and your chicks will become roostros or you can go into the wild, to the nests and take roostros if they spawn or just take the chicks.
I hope I helped :D
Thank you so much for your help!! <3
Thanks
