How many slimes should you free range at a time?

I've been free ranging a bunch of Quantum Dervish in the Grotto I think I have about 30 but i still wind up with a surplus of prickle pear and I could probably add more slimes I just want to hear what other people are doing

15 slimes per garden should work fine, however it's long ago since i'va made my tests.

well i reduced my ranch to the minimum. i have 7 diffrent largo types and 5 of each. some puddles in the pond at the docks and an incinerator for a few fire slimes. My grotto is completly unsued.. well i store my echoes there, and it's fairly laggy in there....

I think having your Quantum Dervish largos free roaming is good enough for long term. You shouldn't add more slimes in there unless you're not gonna feed the other slimes. Cause if you have largos, of any kind, if it's hungry enough it'll eat a plort from a different slime that would cause it to turn into a Tarr. Tarrs are bad slimes that eat slimes, foods, and will try to eat you the rancher. Water can kill Tarrs. And also Tarrs can't exit through an entrance or exit. Just be safe, know that slimes can't be mixed after 2 are combined into 1. Free roaming can be done, just they can't have other slimes around them cause it can threaten a tarr break out. I've done some free roaming, but it was with the small slimes. I'd let them free roam in the Overgrowth if I was still getting a corral made for them, or just to keep them around, or I kept them for a possible range exchange, and I don't feed the ones I plan to exchange. But I do get bored of waiting to exchange slimes, so eventually I send them off to freedom. There hungry sad faces are too much for me. I can't stand a sad hungry slime of mine. good luck with whatever you decide to do. :D

Me personally I took what slime I wanted, breed it with phosphors, and threw them in the grotto in rediculous numbers. Like... over a hundred. Since they're phosphor, they'd disapear if they get out of the grotto in the day so I didn't have to keep a very close eye on them and just popped in whenever. Then again, I'm a bit of a cruel rancher I guess, not too concerned if everyone is eatting enough at any given point.

i freerange all my slimes! example in the science lab i have four mint mango trees for my HoneyHunter largos... each mango tree produces 15 fruit.. thats 60 Mango fruits... i put 30 to 40 largos there... u dont want to put 15 largos per 15 fruit... cause slimes are bouncy and move around and some eat more then once... that means not all of them will be eating...
so if i put 60 largos for the 60 fruit i have... lots of them are gonna be hungry...

its good to have excess food.. plus u can always pick up the extras and feed other slimes else where or waste them on your fire slimes...
so to be on the safe side... put 10 largos per 15 fruit... if its a 20 fruit/veggie farm then put 15 largos

i had 15 mosaic dervish in my main part of the ranch but for some reason i only have about 5 now

yeah. i need to move them to the grotto and move my tabby slimes to the main area
