Ranch Upgrades (Discussion!)
Hello fellow ranchers. I've got something I want off my chest.
In my opinions the ranch sites (especially the cave and the overgroth) need some serious attention. I'd really like to let my slimes wander freely, but that makes collecting plorts very annoying. I have a few ideas in mind how to make "slime imprisoner" into "slime rancher", and I'm thinking SlimeScience. My suggestions could be new science gadgets, but I think a new "ranch site upgrade" thing would be more convenient (but more difficult to implement).

- FENCES! It's simple. Adds coral-like fences at the exits/entrances to the ranch sites to prevent slimes wandering off (and into their deaths).

- Plort collector robot. This upgrade is a small docking station that comes with a plort storage and spawns a hovering vacuum robot. To prevent pathfinding problems the robot could follow a scripted circular path around the ranch site and collects plorts which then show up in the storage device.

- Automatic seeding Upgrade for patches/beds/plots (dunno which word fits, not a native speaker). I hate it when I have to replant my crops. That's what slime science is for, right? Making life easier. Additionally, a plot-to-coral teleporter would be awesome, but I'm getting demanding here and that has nothing to do with free-wandering slimes.

- A gadget/ranch upgrade that prevents slimes from eating plorts they shouldn't eat. Honestly, I don't care about this one that much. I read this suggestion on reddit some time ago and thought I would include it.

- MOAR ranch sites. I know there are more planned, and I know we won't get enough ranch sites to have at least one of each slime type in a largo wandering freely without worrying, but hey, I'm in a flow right now.

Open for suggestions and looking forward to dev feedback about whether or not you guys consider adding some of these.

fences would be useful, indeed. Not just for slimes, but for chickens too. I free range chickens and they usually end up wandering out into the dry reef eventually, stupid things won't stay IN the ranch

Why necro this thread? Most of this stuff has already been added. Fences would be good, though.

Worth noting that the necro came after we got portable scare slimes, which while not a perfect solution, does most of what the fence suggestion was getting at. And that is after the other 3 suggestions got added into the game in the form of more expansions, drones, casual mode and max growth cycles being removed...

fences would still be cool, since scare slimes aren't completely reliable and would work on free range chickens as well, which dont' care about scare slimes and freely walk off cliffs
