Slime Science sucks
Ok, the title was harsh, I'll admit, but I HATE the way it is introduced. First off, you finally get 10K dollars to get access to it, and you're instantly shown a ton of things to buy, build, collect, et cetera. Also, I think it promotes using the online manuals. I get that everyone does it, and it's not exactly taboo, but a game like slime rancher promotes self discovery. For example, finding out that feeding a gordo enough gives you a slime key and opening a door for the first time? That's tons of fun. Seeing it on a youtube video makes it...Sort of surprising. Discovering that the driller and apiary things work better in certain areas? That's just borderline not possible without having seen it somewhere else. Any player would scatter the things around their base, not place them somewhere else.

Slime science seemed like a slap in the face, also. I know they will expand on it later, but you have so much to think about. Like, what should I unlock? What material should I focus on getting, out of the 25 seemingly useless materials. Are any of these going to even help me with the game? I mean, so far, you collect resources to collect more resources, and unlock a FEW useful things (Teleporters), and a bunch of gimmicks. It was very scary and very abrupt to me at first, and almost ruined the fun of the game. Just turned it into a chore.

actually, the slimepedia says very clearly that each extractor has resouces exclusive to to each area. and the lab was meant to be for more experienced ranchers anyway. hence why it's so expensive. it stands to reason that you'd need all of the meterials eventually anyway. i'm sure they'll make more useful things in the future, but the reason there's so many decorations as "gadgets" is so you can personalize your world and make it a bit more appealing to yourself. all the info you need is in the slimepedia. and anything you would find online is most likely from there in the first place. you just need to read it.

Dang. I can feel the venom running down your spine even through the internet. Anyway, It makes no sense to touch the slimepedia. There has never once been useful information in the slimepedia, other than lore and history.

I mean, yeah. I agree. But, in my case, a gimmick would be something that's really cool at first, then has no meaning. For example, the slime lamp, or the basketball hoop. After the first 20, or less, minutes, are those really exciting? They're cool, I'll admit, but, serve no reasl purpose, in my opinion.

Slimepedia has an use too! Loads of useful info is found here, such as the risks ranching slimes can give, their diets and favorite foods, what plots and ranch expansions do and what slime science does.

Gadgets aren't just gimmicks, since apart from the useful things you have decorations and stuff to play with.
