Only Phosphor slimes (the lavender winged lit slimes) are the ones that need to be in the grotto or have solar shield corrals. But I can see your confusion with Hunters coming out around or mostly at night time. But Hunter slimes aren't sensitive to light. They are like any other slime, they can be in day light and be fine. And the overgrowth, I found is a great "babysitting" area, if you have slimes but you need to work on getting them a corral first somewhere else on the ranch. You can fill the overgrowth with gardens & let one kind of slimes roam freely. Also, chickens do spawn in the overgrowth, so if you let your hunter tabbies roam back there, they'll be fine :D And when create largos, you can feed the largo whatever the 2 slimes it's a mixed of and it'll be happy. I hope I helped :D
