The reason for no DLC in MUA1
So I noticed a lot of people complaining about the DLC missing from MUA1. I don't have the game on Steam but I had it on the XBox 360 and the DLC was removed from listing there quite a long time ago. So far as I understand it, they don't have the rights to it, or some such.

This is why the Xbox 360 version of MUA1: Gold, which includes the DLC, is so highly sought after.

To this end, you're not likely to ever get the DLC for MUA1.

-----

At the request of an edit: Since making this post, it has now been confirmed (AFTER I MADE THIS POST) that the DLC *will* be released in the future. Huzzah. But the post stands as simple speculation (as was obvious) at the time of the post.

I think it should also be noted that this issue isn't exclusive to PC. The problem also pertains to Xbox One and PS4 releases.

so they last time the dlc were there

They didn't have the rights because rights were split into physical and digital rights. Activision lost the digital rights at the time.

However, this is entirely digital. Digital rights are all there is. If they didn't have digital rights, this would not have been released period.

Even if they have lost the rights they should have renegotiated to get them back, or you know, not sell the game for 40e if it doesn't even have the DLC characters.

Then I'm not likely ever to purchase this, or it's crap sequal.

Remasters should have all DLC/expansions, no excuses. It's pretty lame how they can't have a complete version for the remaster. I stand by what I usually say about remasters- stupid cash grabs for people that need to be nostalgic about games they use to play. Plus its lazy game making. Game makers rehash so much stuff, because its cheaper to do and gamers buy it all up.

Will a new Ultimate Alliance come out of ths? Perhaps. Will it be good? Ehh.. I think it will be a mess that is more focused on the movie versions of people and not the comic books. I like both comics and movies (well most of the movies at least) but there is much much better source material from the comics to use! I don't expect an exact copy of comic plots, but I prefer comic plots to the movie plots that are usually meh.

This seems to answer the issue partly then!

It was taken down but was recently put up again (I guess this would coincide with this Steam release?) as a packaged with the formally missing DLC. You can't buy the DLC separately, you have to buy the complete digital copy (so owning the XBox disc, you still can't get the DLC).

Not sure what this means for the Steam edition. Since on Xbox the DLC cannot be sold separately from the main game, it should have been packaged upon purchase. I would imagine that there may still be some legal issues that were gotten over for Xbox but not for PC?

I suppose one way to tell would be to check the achievements - any Steam achievements that mention DLC characters?

I agree with you, dude. I wasn't making excuses for them, just pointing out to the best of my knowledge that was the situation.

Activision lost all rights long long ago.

Marvel likely gave them a greenlit to launch the digital version of the "remastered" game on all platforms again and that's what Activision did. But I don't think Marvel has any direct control over the quality of the released games, that's on Activision's studio who ported it. Marvel can spank Activision though which is what they did.

As far as the DLC for MUA1 goes, it probably would involve Microsoft as well but not sure. Maybe Marvel were the only ones who could give Activision permission for it but it's rather odd, who knows, only a dev could possibly tell us something about it. But it's not like it matters much, since it's been confirmed the DLC is coming along with PC fixes!! It's just a matter of days, hopefully.

This seems like a troll post you are spreading misinformation the dlc will be released eventually for MUA 1. You should take this down or correct your statement.

This was not made with the express intention of 'misinformation' nor was it a 'troll' post. The post was made *before* the Twitter comment you highlighted. I feel you should 'get over yourself' and stop trying to cause trouble.

I have done as requested and I have edited the original post. I won't delete the thread, that'd be bad form. The thread was made and the issue was discussed in a speculative sense. Everything I stated was entirely true at the time of making the post and there was every reason to believe that this *may* explain something that was, otherwise, the inexplicable and unexplained absence of content that should have been there but wasn't. When left with no answers people will attempt to draw their own based on knowledge at hand. As said, it may even stand true and possibly be the reason for the delay, who knows? It's as good a theory as any for the absence, and probably the only one that doesn't boil down to 'Activision are evil'.

Was the original MUA an exclusive to XBox? I thought it was on Playstation too? I know that it's being released on PS4 now as well.

Both the Xbox One and PS4 versions of MUA1 are also missing the DLC, which means the issue isn't a PC-only problem but across the board. I would say this could still relate, then, to licencing problems of the content, especially if, like you say, Marvel themselves are getting involved. There's not really any reason for Marvel to get involved unless it is because they need to release the rights to Activision for this DLC (probably tied up in some legal redtape somewhere since the loss of rights was the problem in the first place).

Of course, it has now been confirmed that the DLC will come to all platforms as a free update but the delay is still a mystery without explanation. If it were just on PC, we could chalk it up as another piss-poor convertion. But the DLC is lacking across the board, meaning something, like licensing, must be the cause.

not the console, but some contents were exclusive:

*PS3, Xbox 360, & Wii: Colossus & Moon Knight
**Full playable are found on PS2, PSP, PC, Xbox disks
***Some of Colossus' sounds are incomplete, while Moon Knight having a buzzy alternate costume huds

*PSP: Black Widow, Captain marvel, Hawkeye, Ronin + Simulation (for these characters, & survivals)
**Unused PS2-styled HQ textured files (models, huds & power icons), exclusive simulations found unused on Wii disk
**Some incomplete sounds are found outside PSP, and not included on Wii
***In Xbox 360, Hawkeye is the exception since he's now part of Xbox 360 DLC Gold Edition
**Loadscreens are found outside PSP, even Black Widow's comic loading is unused in all version like unused Surfer & Fury's comic loading
**I dunno if Wolverine's Modern Jacket Loadscreen and Blade's correct Daywalker Hud are also found on Wii like how PSP characters HQ textured files found there

*Xbox 360 DLC Gold Edition: Cyclops, Dr. Doom, Hawkeye (Character only), Hulk, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Sabretooth, Venom
**Hawkeye's PSP simulation not included
**Hulk has an unused NPC versions' files, special dialogues, simulations (including sounds), and announcer call. His comic book loading is found on PS2 disk

*GBA: Jean Grey, Namor, The Visions
**NOTE: Completely different gameplay, not developed by Ravensoft & Vicarious Visions. So they won't be included on RE
