Wallpaper cannot be applied
Lately when I wake back up from Sleep mode or if booting my computer up from being off, Wallpaper Engine doesn't apply any of my wallpapers. When I go in to change wallpaper and Load Profile, I get the following error:

"Wallpaper cannot be applied

It looks like Wallpaper Engine cannot apply the wallpaper because it cannot properly identify your monitors.

Try restarting Wallpaper Engine completely. If you frequently have this issue, try disabling the high priority auto start option and use the normal auto start instead.

Additionally, try setting the monitor identification option to Layout in the General tab of the settings to avoid this issue. "

Well I tried all of that and I'm still having the same issue.
Any thoughts?

Could you run our scan tool and share the log file as described here:

The last one should really solve that message unless the computer sends "no" monitors to Wallpaper Engine at all, can you double check you set "monitor identification" to "layout"?

Done! What's the preferred method of sharing a file here?

See step 4, from the guide, this would be the easiest way.

Do you have this problem only when selecting a profile or even when you select a single wallpaper directly? I think the monitor identification is saved in profiles too (not really a way to avoid that I'm afraid due to how this is a bit unreliable in Windows) so they would need to be redone with the layout monitor identification option.

But if you can't even apply a single wallpaper directly without profiles, then disregard this, since there must be something else going on on top of it.

I can set wallpapers individually, but I have to do that anytime after rebooting as nothing saves. And I can't load any saves which means I need to set each wallpaper for each monitor every time I start.

Thanks. Please choose the stock "neon sunset" wallpaper and click OK, then close the program completely from the tray menu and by clicking Quit there.

After that, start it again right away from Steam. Is the neon sunset wallpaper then still applied or has this also not been saved?

Yes! Neon sunset is still applied to my main monitor after that.

Thanks. What happens now when you restart the PC while using the Neon Sunset wallpaper?

If the wallpaper is removed again, could you please share the log again right after the issue occurred? I would like to verify if the wallpaper was properly saved using the "layout" option (I assume you still have this active).

So far so good! Restarted and the Neon Sunset wallpaper loaded automatically. And to confirm, I am still using the "layout" option.

Thanks, now could you try it again with a single one of your images for comparison? Looks like the config saves and the layout option is working then.

Nothin. I tried my own wallpaper multiple times. On just one monitor. On both monitors. Each time is a struggle to get my own wallpaper to stick. I sent an email with a screenshot of what I'm seeing. Wallpaper engine thinks it has applied a wallpaper, but you'll see that the wallpaper is not actually applied.

Anyway, when I do finally get a wallpaper to apply, it does not save. I can quit Wallpaper engine (just like before from the tray icon) and then restart the program and the wallpapers are not applied.

Can you take any of your images and copy it into the Wallpaper Engine directory for testing purposes: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine then import it from there into Wallpaper Engine and apply it?

I wonder if the program has trouble accessing it and putting it there may avoid that since the stock wallpapers work fine.

Tried it and no solution :/ I removed all my existing images from Wallpaper Engine just in case. So now I only have 1 imagine that is not one of the included default Wallpapers. It is in the file path you directed me to put it in. It is a jpeg. But it still is not loading to my desktop, even though Wallpaper Engine seems to think it is. Should I uninstall and reinstall?

Could you disable your second monitor and restart Wallpaper Engine, then try applying it?

Unfortunately your issue seems different from anything we've come across so far so the best I can think of right now would be to try narrowing it down. It might also be related to your particular image files, but I would be surprised since I've tested it with a lot of different ones.

I don't think re-installing will change anything. You could use the reset button in the general settings though to reset your config, it's not deleted by uninstalling the program.
