After update 1.6, the application began to take up too much GPU.
44% of 8 GB
P.S. Settings have not changed

Please share links to the wallpapers that you are using. You can click the "Copy URL" button in the browser to get a link to the Workshop, for example.

The problem is not the wallpaper as I checked a lot of wallpaper from the workshop.
+ I also tried to put the old installed wallpaper
+ The wallpaper installed by me was downloaded before the update
+ Also does not affect the number of particles and other effects
+ Decreasing settings does not affect

Okay, so we have not really changed anything that should increase GPU usage or GPU VRAM usage. Still, I just tested like ten wallpapers, recorded their GPU and VRAM usage individually. Then I downgraded to Wallpaper Engine 1.5 and again, recorded their individual GPU and VRAM usage and it was pretty much exactly the same within 1% - 2% normal fluctuation.

I also tested these three wallpapers that you created under the assumption that you might be using your own wallpaper and they also perform exactly the same:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2471562992

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2454355959

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2471562992

Again, please specify what you mean. GPU usage, GPU VRAM usage or something else? Are you absolutely sure it increased? The Windows Task Manager is not able to give an accurate reading of your GPU usage, see this explanation:

https://help.wallpaperengine.io/performance/gpu.html

If you still think this is a problem, please link one or more specific wallpapers (sorry, but, yes, we need them to establish some sort of base line).

Then please share the log file from our scan tool as outlined here:

Thanks. There are multiple Windows users registered in the config. It looks like multiple of them have been using the latest update already.

One of them uses 60 FPS and x8 MSAA, the other 25 FPS and x4 MSAA. These are big differences in performance. You can disable MSAA for most wallpapers and you should use less FPS, 25 FPS is good, 60 FPS is simply heavy.

Make sure Nvidia Share is not actively recording the wallpaper now just because the program restarted itself for the update. This might happen simply because it needs to restart and Nvidia Share decides to start recording, which you don't want to happen.

Besides that these wallpapers have no performance differences between the previous and current version of Wallpaper Engine. You can use the old version by using the Steam betas and compare yourself, but you have to follow this guide and read the clock rate. Like Tim said, the task manager GPU usage is completely irrelevant and must be corrected manually if you want to make an accurate comparison: https://help.wallpaperengine.io/performance/gpu.html

It's not your boost clock, it's less than half of it, so it's actually 20% GPU usage. You can see your clock rate at the top and your boost clock is likely 1500-1800mhz.

Make sure you have corrected the FPS/MSAA settings in Wallpaper Engine, 20% total would be pretty normal for high FPS or MSAA settings.

So I did not touch the settings. As I set ultra, almost from the very beginning of use, it stood like that (without any problems)

I don't seem to understand what the problem is...

Biohazard  [developer] Jun 12, 2021 @ 2:15pm
"Ultra" is a very recent setting, only a couple of months old, in the beginning the maximum was "High". Looking at your config, I think you have already used Wallpaper Engine before "Ultra" existed.

None of these settings sets the FPS to 60, there is a warning if you go beyond 30 FPS because it is usually not a good idea since high FPS always means higher GPU usage no matter what. Even displaying a blank color at high FPS will lead to high usage, it's inherent to how Windows displays content. So please check the settings, try setting MSAA to 0 and FPS to 25. You don't need MSAA for 2D wallpapers but it still costs a little performance.

Okay, I understood what you mean, but I set it up manually (for a long time and never changed it), setting all possible parameters to the maximum.
The parameters have not changed, but the load has increased.
That is, it turns out that your statement is false that this update did not affect the load...

The interesting thing is that even your advice didn't help.
I even tried to set the settings to the very minimum - nothing has changed

Okay, can you share a screenshot of GPU-Z while you are using the "Low" preset from the performance options so we can check if anything else changes? Please make sure to wait a moment after opening GPU-Z so the values settle.

After that please switch Wallpaper Engine to the "previous" branch in Steam like this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/431960/discussions/1/1746720717352689476/ except replace "beta" with "previous". This is the previous version just like it was before. Can you again choose the "Low" preset and take a screenshot of GPU-Z?
