I would love to use it again, but it cost my my partnership on youtube. Devs dont tell you they use content by default that they dont own(not talking work shop) So if you are a content creator using this software(really cool btw) chances are it will get you a strike, or cost you a partnership. I would do tutorials and I had this software I was using for a background, and suddenly 4 copyright strikes came in for violation of using somebody elses property, Partnership gone, channel suspended.


Good software, horrible disclaimer about the default content included

1st Channel .here's the video where your setup is shown (as a proof that it's you), 2nd Channel.

If you really did get one of your account suspended it's not because of wallpaper engine, you probably published something that wasn't supposed to be on the platform.

2. My channel was terminated as a result of the strikes, since I did appeal it and I lost the appeal and the channel was terminated. The channel you link is a channel I created after I lost my partnership but then gave up on, since I didnt have the drive to rebuild my channel again

The youtube channel you refer to, I was never partnered on. I had 2 emails, 1 for youtube and social media and one for personal stuff, that I posted different stuff to, but after my partnership was removed, I never had the desire to rebuild my channel back. The channel you see was just a personal youtube. The 2nd channel you list, I created literally a month ago, as I was considering trying to do the channel again, but decided it wasnt worth the hassle.


I have nothing against this software, but they dont make it clear, that they use copyrighted content, and if you do a search,, others have had issues with it.


The dev is a nice guy, the software is amazing, (for the time I used it) but if you are a content creator, this will potentially cause you issues.

Thanks for the reply. I spoke to you a few years ago about it, and you said to counter it. I did, my channel was lost. Just wanted to warn ppl to use with care.

I obviously cannot comment on it the details of this and you're free to get a refund via Steam if you would like to, but you should probably look into a counter DMCA because that sounds like a case where someone is abusing fair use on YouTube or potentially making a false claim (because that's rather easy and not unheard of). Again, I don't know the case but it sounds rather odd that some company would even come across this easily.

Either way, if there is a wallpaper up on Wallpaper Engine that this company considers to be a copyright violation, they should be filing a DMCA request with Valve / Steam to get it removed from the platform.

Maybe you didn't get what both Tim and I said.
What's "licensed and fully self-created" it's the SOFTWARE but NOT the contents that people publish in it.
In that discussion you clearly stated that you got a copyright strike because of a "Zombie background" which is NOT something that comes with Wallpaper engine, it's something that you subscribed from the workshop and it has been uploaded by a random user.
If i'm wrong and you think that I got this wrong just come out of your way and tell me that.
I'm not going up against you by the way, it's just that, if it's like i'm saying, you are wasting your time over something that the DE can't fix because they have no control over it.

I dont believe I used any work shop items at that time, but it was 6 years ago, so maybe I did, I really cant say for sure, I am not exactly young anymore and much has happened in 6 years.

Overtime some items on the workshop gets deleted/hidden by the users (or they got banned for some reason or another), sending a screenshot of your subscribed wallpapers doesn't really mean anything.
Anyway, there's no way to prove that the problem it's the software, we should just stop posting here.

You're absolutely right about how great this app is. I loved tooling around with Widgets, Dreamscapes, Rain Meter and basically everything from Stardock. It's so wonderful to have a safe program like this to liven up my desktop.

Your post even includes the exact product line that they accuse you of having used without a license and this product has never been part of the app:

The company submitted a bunch of copyright notices to Steam after they handled your case, that is why you cannot find these wallpapers in your subscriptions anymore - they were banned from Steam because they rightfully took action to get their content removed from the Workshop.
